Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Ask StyleList, Kids and Babies

Roman Savell's Soho Diaper Clutch, $145.00Reader Cynthia asked us:

Well I was looking for a diaper bag with great fashion sense. No prints please, just solid color with leather....like a trim or flap. What is your view on this bag made by a company called pyknyk I love it but would like your input on it? Love, Cynthia

Well, Cynthia, we had a look at the Pyknyk bags, and they are seriously stacked. They are loaded with all kinds of mom bag goodness, including a diaper-changing pad!

Still, we have to say our favorite mom bags come from Roman Savell, like the one pictured here.

Angelic Genius - Not your average baby goodies

Filed under: Clothing, Kids and Babies

We are of an age where our friends seem to be into having babies. Lots of them. Well, not that our friends are pulling an Angelina Jolie or anything, but still, there seem to be a lot of babies coming into the picture.

And, being the fashionable auntie-types we are, we are not content to simply buy the Winnie the Pooh onesies we see at our local Target. They're cute, sure, but if we're going to dress a baby, we're going to put them in something with a little pizazz. And Angelic Genius has pizazz in spades.

vedaMAMA - Not just for the mommy crowd

A lot of the really, really good skincare companies put a lot of focus on products for new moms, kids, and babies, and for good reason -- this group needs high quality products. However, the rest of us like to be pampered, too, and vedaMAMA is taking good care of us. Really, really good care.

VedaMAMA is a part of vedaPURE, a collection of noncosmetic skincare products that uses "ancient ayuvedic principals of balance and health, herbal remedies for calming and soothing and the highest standards of excellence in modern care for ... chic sassy moms and hip 5th Avenue fashionistas." There are none of the typical presevatives or steroids you often find, and it's even safe enough to eat.

Celeb moms are loving Jennifer Meyer Jewelry

What better way to show the world your love for your little one than with a sweet initial pendant? Celebrity moms like Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, and Courteney Cox are all sporting the Jennifer Meyer Pendant Necklaces with the initial of their newest additions.

The pendants are made of 18k yellow gold and encrusted with diamonds in a chosen initial. And, as cute as they are, there's a reason you see them on celebrities and not on the moms in playgroup -- they cost $1250 each.

Even if you don't have a little one of your own (or if you're just not digging these particular pendants), she has loads of other options, but all are in the upper price ranges.

Finding the fashion blogger that's right for you

Susan WagnerThere's an enormous number of fashion and style sites around the interwebs. While it'd be impossible to read (or even find) these hundreds of thousands of sites, the good news is that with all these perspectives, you're almost certain to find one that speaks to you.

If you're the kind of person that finds ultra-pricey, or uber-trendy fashion out of reach (or just obnoxious), and have been looking for a voice of reason to guide you through the insanity -- look no further than Susan Wagner.

Susan is a style writing machine -- she maintains 4 sites (3 of them related to fashion), and can give you advice on everything from comfort to cost-cutting to what to wear when you're expecting. Check out Friday Style for common sense fashion advice, Work It, Mom! for clothes you can wear before and after the baby arrives, or get a sampling of everything on Susan's BlogHer blog.

And for parents, there's also Susan's personal blog, Friday Playdate.

Simple Me for the Stylishly Expectant

Filed under: Clothing, Kids and Babies

french terry sweatshirt for pregnantI am now highly sensitive to all things baby, kids, and maternity, even though I am nowhere near having kids of my own. With a baby niece nearby, and another sister who is very pregnant within calling distance, I am totally aware of how difficult it is to find good clothes for expecting Moms.

Thanks to the folks over at Simple Me boutique, you can feel somewhat comfortably stylish, even if you're, as my sister says, as "big as a house." Sure, you can putz around in faded, ratty sweatpants and your husband's double ex-ell Hanes Beefy tee, but why would you when you can wear something as cute as this short-sleeved French terry sweatshirt? Long enough to cover your belly, and even long enough to go over your butt so you can throw it on over the ultimate comfot, a pair of soft leggings.

The French terry sweatshirt comes in over a dozen colors and costs $59.95 at Simple Me.
