'MTV Movie Awards' - Where Trekkie-Inspired Fashion Ruled

Ashley Tisdale's look screams,"Beam me up, Scotty!" Photo by Getty Images

Perhaps inspired by the recent release of the "Star Trek" movie, pop stars at last night's "MTV Movie Awards" dressed like they had just stepped off the USS Enterprise.

Being that the cable network giant caters to such a young crowd, it was no surprise that micro-mini dresses were the biggest trend of the night. Youngsters like Ashley Tisdale (in an Elise Øverland dress and Paul & Joe Sister heels), Kristen Stewart, Megan Fox, and Leighton Meester all came baring their thighs, as did industry fashion favorites Sienna Miller and Sandra Bullock.

Check out our "MTV Movie Awards" gallery below and vote on who you think rocked the fashion-forward trend and who was just a style space case.

I want that! Ciara's Jimmy Choo clutch

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends, Get the Look, Hair Cut and Style

Alright so did anyone think that Ciara looked completely smokin' at the VMA's? It was near impossible not to as she smoothly made her rounds in the dress du jour - a short, silver sparkler. Her Christian Loub's, Jimmy Choo star studded clutch, and black waist cinching belt made interviewer Taylor Swift swoon. So much so that Swift said out loud that she had an "outfit crush." Although that is pretty embarrassing to say on national TV, we totally have one too!

Although the outfit was so completely fly that we hardly noticed anything else, Ciara's faux bob certainly deserves an honorable mention.

Style Foul: MTV VMAs 2008

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Red Carpet Trends

We rely on rock stars, rappers--and yes, even reality-show regulars--to set trends. It's a responsibility that, we admit, requires some risk.

But with risk does not always come reward. And at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, we saw more than one example of that.

Here are a few of the valiant red-carpet efforts (and one complete lack thereof, thanks to Fatman Scoop) that we just can't condone:

I want that! Anne Hathaway in Sophia Kokosalaki

Filed under: Dresses, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

What the?! How did we miss this one before??

The usually prim Anne Hathaway took her simple signature style and gave it a rock 'n roll edge at the MTV Movie Awards. The pumps and perfect curls kept it "Anne" while the leather gave it a funky, experimental twist. She has really been stepping out of the box lately and we are diggin' it.

And OMG! You guys! Are you loving this leather Sophia Kokosalaki piece as much as we are? Miss Sophia is certainly our designer d'jour!

I want that! Dolce & Gabbana strapless dress

The dress that Lindsay Lohan wore to the MTV Movie Awards was killer. We mean, the face and hair were a little lackluster, actually a lot lackluster. And we didn't particularly agree with the red nails against the purple dress.

But that little purple confection... mmm mm! It is D & G after all so we guess that explains it. Wow, those guys really can make anyone look good in anything. JK LL! LY!

Jennifer Hudson is flashing her undies. Is SJP to blame?

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses, Celebrities with Style

We love the fact that Jennifer Hudson is voluptuous and totally confident in showing off her curves. And we know she worked right along side Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex and the City movie, so is SJP to blame for Jennifer flashing her bright pink bra at the MTV Movie Awards? SJP's hubby, Matthew Broderick probably thinks so.

In fact, he blames his fashion icon wife (and her most famous character, Carrie Bradshaw) for the trend of women showing off their sexy lingerie in public. But, back to the matter at hand -- Jennifer Hudson's bra. How do you feel about this look?

How do you feel about this bra-tastic look?

On Location at the MTV Movie Awards

I worked on the yellow carpet for video game sensation Rock Band while the Universal Studios back lot burnt down. It took two hours to get to press check-in. I was on a stage at the very end of the carpet with some skilled video-game designers who have a knack for virtual rocking. From Stone Temple Pilots to Queens of the Stone Age, these guys knew every four-button combo of every song.

Being at the end of the carpet, most didn't want to stop, let alone play a three minute karaoke version of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive." I got some good talent nonetheless: Carson Daly, Cisco Adler, the Pussycat Dolls, Tila Tequila and so many others.
