Tip of the Day: Wear Jewelry Alchemy by Melissa McClure

Filed under: Accessories, Style Tip of the Day

The brains behind the organic line dubbed Jewelry Alchemy, Melissa McClure brings the infinite idea of "opposites attract" to life in her line.

Coming from a family lineage full of jewelers and goldsmiths, it was only natural that McClure start her own jewelry collection. Having much to do with her split childhood between energetic New York and laid back Texas, her collection is an excellent contrast of nature vs. urban.

Some of our favorites from her silver and gold collection are the static branch choker necklace, asymmetrical large twig clasp necklace, assorted button bangle bracelets, double helix bracelet, leather wrap honeycomb, and the long simple twig earrings.

All stores that carry the line are located in West Hollywood. However, if you aren't in Cali, all's not lost. You can shop the line at Cake Jewelry.

Organic t-shirts from Target

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

If we had to pick one store that we couldn't live without it would most likely be Target. Sure, other stores sell fancier things and have more ambiance, but from the minute we buy our customary bag of popcorn and Icee for ONE DOLLAR, we're in and we're hooked. They have everything in there. Seriously, we looked.

Kate Quinn Organics wants to wrap your baby in luxury

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Dresses, Kids and Babies, Style for a Cause, Green Fashion

Seattle based Kate Quinn Organics, previously known as Earth Organic Baby Basics, is a parent's dream. That is assuming said parent wants "the softest, most natural materials" for their baby's comfort, and "the highest quality design and construction, and most importantly, the hope of a cleaner, kinder earth." If the parent wants all that, and you know that they do, then they can't go wrong with Kate Quinn.

The designs are created using "simple, elegant lines" and are available in nature-inspired hues to highlight the natural beauty of a child.

Lauren Wolf Jewelry

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

Jewelry designer Lauren Wolf has some distinctive influences in her jewelry: She studied in coastal Mexico and now works "out of her studio in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge." While these might seem like opposing forces, she finds amazing and creative ways to use these two influences in her jewelry.

Textures like sting ray skin and and snake skin are cast in gold and silver, giving an urban feel to an otherwise coastal motif. However, I'm partial to the work she does with floral designs -- simple, beautiful flowers are given an edgy twist, so instead of just looking pretty and girly, they look feminine and badass (and who doesn't love that?). Lauren has lots of celebrity fans, including Lindsay Lohan, Cameron Diaz, Michelle Williams, Penelope Cruz, and Brooke Shields.

This isn't your grandma's costume jewelry -- it's the real deal. If you're looking for an incredible signature piece that you can be sure folks will notice for years to come, you've got to check out Lauren Wolf.

A bird in the hand

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

Often our favorite jewelry designers here at Styledash use elements from the natural world to create beautiful, organic pieces. In most cases, that involves sea glass, rocks or semi-precious stones.

For designers Rhonda and Elijah Wyman, the name of the natural jewelry game is animals shapes. But before you snub your nose at the idea of deer necklaces and bird rings, you ought to check out the goods at their company Figs & Ginger.

Dubbed "metalsmithing inspired by the forest" the modest collection of earrings, necklaces, broaches and rings takes the unassuming shapes of woodland critters and fuses them with subtle, hand-crafted metals. My favorite piece from Figs & Ginger is the Sterling Bird Ring. The bird shape is attached to the ring in such a way that it can be positioned to lay flat or sit upright, depending upon your mood. Crafted from sterling silver, the bauble is finished with a dark patina that creates an antique effect.

Figs & Ginger also makes custom jewelry, so even though my favorite woodland creature -- the squirrel -- is not represented in the collection, they can still make it happen.
