Avon Recruits Truck Driver to Hawk Beauty Products

Reese Witherspoon made a smart move by signing on as Avon's global ambassador. The company is booming! New Zealand news web site Stuff recently profiled the company's Australian division's spike in door-to-door salespeople – 7,000 new representatives in February alone.

Normally, we'd probably just say "saleswomen," but Avon's newest recruits span age -- and gender. The Australian division told the news site that as a result of the recession and growing unemployment rate, it has the most unlikely candidates entering the beauty sales field.

Being bald is money! Or, at least, it can be with Kiwi Airline

We've always known that people with gorgeous hair can make money as hair models, but we never realized that being bald could be so lucrative -- New Zealand's national airline, Kiwi Airline, is searching for 50 male passengers willing to have temporary tattoos slapped on their bald heads sharing the message about the airline's new check-in service.

The men won't go through this humiliation for naught, though -- they'll be paid the equivalent of $666 for walking around with "cranial billboards."

Earth Day is not only a day to celebrate the Earth, but also a day to examine our own beliefs about what we think is good for the planet. By thinking and talking about our beliefs, we can help each other make mindful choices. This will mean that next year, we can have Earth Day again, and not Sad-Mass-Formerly-Known-As-Earth Day.

So. Some people think it is good for the environment to support possum fur industries. Environmentally-conscious fur? Is that an oxymoron?

Team USA gets Ralph Lauren, New Zealand gets Crocs

Can you think of anything more unfair? As we've already told you, Team USA will be sporting Ralph Lauren for the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics, and the New Zealand Olympians will be schlumping around in an official uniform that includes Crocs.

The women will be wearing the sueded "Alice" style for the opening ceremony, and then all the athletes will wear the ever-popular Beach model. The kicker with this is that Olympic chef de mission Dave Currie said the shoes would be "very stylish."
