Nastia Liukin and Herbal Essences

Filed under: Style in the News, Hair Care, Celebrities with Style, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

Gold medalist and super-cutie Nastia Liukin has partnered with Herbal Essences to sell haircare products and make herself more famous. We support that.

We also support the half-updo advice in the above video. The half-up look, recently totally rocked by Duffy in the Mercy video, is sexy and smart. It's a wholesome, substitute teacher-esque look that almost everyone can pull off. If your face looks unbalanced when you pull your hair back, play with the angle of your bangs and letting pieces down in the front.

The fashionable brush their teeth on the runway, baby

Filed under: Runway Trends, Celebrities with Style

We told you the new Oral B Pulsonic toothbrush was super stylish. Now we have corroboration from NY Fashion Week, where it made an appearance on the Dash & Smooch runway and at the "Ultimate Fashonista Bathroom" over at Style 360.

Oral B partnered with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition interior designer Michael Moloney to create a bathroon inspired by the ultra-slim electric toothbrush. That appeared to involve a lot of silver, which makes sense. Fashionistas love to look at themselves, right? Also, the Pulsonic supposed to make your teeth whiter, and Michael has amazingly white teeth, so it's a natural match.

Max Azria thinks Hilary Clinton is sexy.

You knew that the Olympics and Hilary Clinton were going to inspire designers this season. BCBG Max Azria was no exception. The designer admitted that that both Mrs. Clinton and the impending Olympics were two of the biggest influences for his Spring 2009 collection.

We would have to agree. The show was full of empowering jumpsuits, rompers, and dresses that would make any woman feel as commanding as Hilary. And as Max Azria put it, the "silky, floating fabrics" were certainly reminiscent of strong and sexy Grecian goddesses who probably stood at the very first Olympics.

To keep the collection "contemporary," Azria chose to mix trends like jumpers, asymmetrical cuts and dusty colors with his signature looks.

Debbie Phelps signs deal with Chico's

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

In a triumph for lovers of bright patterns and matching jewelry, Debbie Phelps, mother of Olympic Champion Michael Phelps, middle school vice principal and expert accessorizer, now has her own six-figure deal with the Chico's clothing chain.

As part of the deal she will appear in their marketing materials, including the catalog and probably the website. She will also be dressed by Chico's for appearances. Watch for her on Oprah!

The Chico's fashion philosophy is a bit flowing and embellished for some. As you can see in the Debbie Phelps Collection (that we posted about last week), which highlights some of Debbie's looks from the Olympics, every print can benefit from a belt, and statements earrings are always paired with matching chunky necklaces.

Debbie Phelps (you know, Michael's mom) and Chico's share the love

(Click the photo to see more of Debi Phelps' Olympic Looks)

Debbie Phelps--mother of swimming phenom Michael--got more airtime during these Olympic games than most of the athletes. But while her adorable reactions to her son's gold-medal wins made for good TV, she's not exactly someone most of us would consider a style icon. "Most of us," however, does not include Chico's, purveyor of pantsuits.

The Chico's higher-ups heard that Phelps, a school principal, had stocked up on some of their brightly-colored separates before jetting off to Beijing. (Including the "Travelers Rouge Geo Print Jacket" she's wearing in this picture.) So the company created a special section called The Debbie Phelps Collection on their site to feature her favorites.

As WWD reports, "Chico's does not have a formal agreement with her, but talks are under way with her management team about potential collaborations." Our advice to Debbie Phelps: if you already have your own management team, why not add a stylist to the payroll?

Dancing With The Stars announces sexiest cast ever for season seven

This is almost too good for words. We were excited when we heard that Kim Kardashian would be on the next season of Dancing With The Stars. And we were tickled to learn that the rumors about Lance Bass are true -- he's also going to be on the show. But in our wildest dreams, we couldn't have hoped for the kind of serial nudists and exhibitionists they announced for season seven.

Mr. Randall and his team of seamstresses will have to struggle to avoid a nip-slip or other wardrobe malfunction for this crazy line up of stars:

Olympic hotties

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

There's no doubt that much of the advertising shown during the Olympic games targets women -- have you noticed all the commercials for osteoporosis meds, baby products, and women's razors? And there's reason -- research has shown that women tune in to the Olympics for many reasons. They enjoy the "occasion," and all the pomp and circumstance; they appreciate the dedication and commitment the athletes have to their sports; plus, it's great family programming.

However, we think many women have another reason for tuning it -- the male athletes.

Reebok unleashes Yao pumps for the Olympics

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Men

Wow
, in a very retro 90's way, we're totally psyched that Reebok has decided to bring back the pump. Not the ladies shoe, mind you, we're talking about the pump that allows middle schoolers to over-inflate their sneakers causing longterm damage (or was that an urban myth?). It's all part of Reebok's bid to climb out of the hole that they've been in since -- well, probably since the Pump-it-Up days.

Their new Yao Ming limited edition sneaker is being released in conjunction with Yao's appearance in this summer's Olympics, where he'll be representing China. Complete with fire-breathing dragons and traditional Chinese colors, these are probably the most elaborate pumps Reebok's ever made. The struggling athletic company hopes to use these mean-looking sneaks, and a media blitz targeting China's Yao pride, to gain a foothold in the world's largest emerging market. Only 2008 of these babies will be produced, and they'll run you about $150.

They're a bit flashy for out taste -- would you wear these out on the court?

The UK Olympians get a designer makeover

Uh, oh. It seems as though the American athletic stars may have to tap into their competitive spirit even before the last torch is lit this summer in Beijing.

As was mentioned earlier
, Ralph Lauren has been chosen to outfit the group of chiseled-bodied women and men representing the good 'ole US of A in two months.

Also, in celebration of the worldly contest, Anna Wintour proudly featured a number of summer Olympians in Vogue's April issue.
