Nail Polish Summer School: If you buy it, do you always use it?

Your responses to our poll about how many nail polish colors do you own got us to thinking. The majority of us have at least five colors in the house. And a whopping 37% have "too many to count" sitting on a shelf in our bathrooms.

So the next logical question is...do you actually use all of that nail polish? Are you touching up your mani-pedi every evening while watching Entertainment Tonight? Or are your pinks and corals and blues all separating into clumpy, sticky, unusable chemistry experiments?

Do you always use nailpolish when you buy it?

Nail Polish Summer School: How many colors in your nail polish rainbow?

We have color promiscuity. As soon as we have our nails done one color, we see a newer, prettier color and suffer an irresistible urge to trade up.

More than once, we've been halfway through a pedicure, and an OPI ad in Self Magazine made us scramble out of the chair to grab a different, new more exciting color.

How many colors of nail polish do you have?

Going grey can be great!

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Dresses, Cosmetics

In the 80s, did you have grey jazz shoes? Or are we showing our age? Maybe it's a little fashion nostalgia, but we're kinda into grey again.

This spring grey has been everywhere, from shoes to nails to dresses. We're loving the subtle and sophisticated ways the shade is being used, with creativity far beyond gym shorts and heathered wool sweaters. Grey is showing up in patent leather and organic cotton and everything in between.

When worn right, grey can be incredibly polished and flattering. Of course, some things are still better in color. We draw the line at grey hair -- you'll find us at the salon for regular root touch ups.

Check out the gallery for seven stylish grey selections.

The cult of OPI's "I'm Not Really A Waitress" red

If you've ever had your nails and toes professionally done you've probably been in a salon where you have seen OPI nail colors. OPI is famous for their many shades and their quirky and playful names for colors. Ask OPI aficionados their favorite and one always comes up "I'm Not Really A Waitress" red.

Maybe it's the name, maybe it's the color a deep red with a hint of sheen. It's bright without being in your face and it makes your toes feel glamorous. I'm so smitten with it, I used it as a detail in a short story once and it is the only pedicure color that I have ever worn and people have actually identified by name. The odes to this color across the blogosphre are legion. A cheap thrill at under $7 in most places it's the kind of color that never goes out of style and maybe the only red you ever need. If they ever stop making it, I'll be the crazy chick at the beauty supply store buying up cases.
