Online retailer Best in Beauty (which specializes in non-toxic and hypoallergenic products) sent a highly publicized gift basket to Malia Obama for her upcoming birthday (which falls on Independence Day -- how patriotic!).

The teen's gift included products from a variety of Best in Beauty retailers:

Keds Goes Green with Loomstate

Launching exclusively at Barneys today (June 15), Keds has teamed up with Loomstate for a summer collection of sustainable and organic versions of its iconic canvas sneaker.

The capsule collection consists of five printed, slip-on styles with organic uppers and linings and a 100 percent recycled insole. Just to be thorough, each pair will also come in a recycled, re-used shoe box and forgo the usual tissue paper inside.

A percentage of the proceeds will go to Organic Exchange, an organization that supports sustainable and organic farming.

At $75 a pair, they may not be the cheapest pair of Keds you've ever owned, but they are definitely the greenest!

YSL, Alexander McQueen and Others Phone 'HOME'

Is this what E.T. would see if he came down for some Reese's Pieces today? The skeletal outline looks pretty ominous, no?

Actually, this is a limited-edition scarf designed by Alexander McQueen in an effort to boost recognition of "HOME," a breathtaking aerial documentary that pleads for a global environmental initiative.

The film "HOME" is being released today (June 5) internationally, with numerous free screenings. It will also air on The National Geographic Channel at 9 pm ET and can be found online at YouTube. Appropriately, it happens to be World Environment Day.

The McQueen scarf, a manipulated representation of the dying Earth morphed into a skull (not your grandmother's silk paisley number, is it?), will be available exclusively at Alexander McQueen boutiques and at alexandermcqueen.com early this month for $285 – but you can pre-order on the site now. Click, click, go, go!

The new Keds Green Label is, as you might have guessed, made of organic cotton and recycled rubber. But that's not all friends. lipglossThe new PINK Body collection, which hits shelves this week, features eco-friendly advocate and gorgeous model, Behati Prinsloo, as the face of the 100% vegan line. The tasty line dishes up four collections: Energizing, Nourishing, Soothing and Essentials that include organic body lotions, shave creams, scrubs, body washes, and balms made up of intoxicating scents like coffee, citrus, mint, and cocoa butter. To boot, even the packaging is made of Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials, meaning the bottle might've been a newspaper or a milk carton in a previous life.
