Barack Obama Coffee

We all know what First Lady Michelle Obama was wearing at President Obama's inauguration, but what about the throngs of millions in the crowd(s)? What were they wearing under their layers and layers of winter clothing? Well, if the best-selling Obama merchandise at Amazon is any indication we're guessing a lot of this:

Michelle Obama on Jay Leno in J. Crew - Get The Look!

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Get the Look

Last night Michele Obama took a break from the Presidential campaign trail and made an appearance on the Jay Leno show. She talked about her husband Barack's ailing grandmother, Toots, and her daughter's lack of awe for his upcoming 30 minute T.V. special. But the big news was her stylishly cheery yellow ensemble.

Cindy McCain's RNC Outfit worth over $300k!

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Whoa, Cindy. Way to bring your common touch to the Republican National Convention! According to the experts at Vanity Fair, the total cost of crisp-featured Cindy McCain's mustard yellow ensemble from Tuesday night tipped the scales to the tune of $313,000-ish.

In contrast, poor Laura Bush was practically wearing gardening clothes, with an outfit that was in the $3,500-$4,300 range.

Actually, they were both in Oscar de la Renta. The big difference -- and we do mean big -- was Cindy's choice of jewelry, including a pair of 3 carat diamond earrings, estimated to cost about $280,000.

Vanity Fair does point out that they only cost that much if they're real. Right! Because there's a sliver of a chance that Cindy McCain showed up on TV wearing "a really good fake" anything besides her boobs.

The magazine did not speculate on how much the total cost would increase if we included the pre-convention Botox touch up and hair highlighting.

Flatter Your Figure - Perfect pieces for pear shapes

Filed under: Clothing, Flatter Your Figure

Some women have a little junk in the trunk, but a bit of booty does not a pear make. We're talking about women who have slim shoulders, a smaller chest and torso, and then considerably wider hips, thighs, and legs. While there are some styles you should definitely shy away from, there are plenty of looks that will be just fabulous on you.

Basically, we want to simultaneously draw attention to your slimmer parts while balancing out your top and bottom. Does this mean you're resigned to a life of black slacks? Oh, hell no! You can get funky with your style as well, but we've got a few suggestions to get you started. And, by the way, black slacks aren't necessarily a bad idea.

Sometimes, real people DO dress like that

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Dresses

Do you ever wonder (while flipping through yet another fashion magazine and pausing to ponder exactly how the hell someone thought to pair that giraffe-patterned sweater with the mango-colored footless tights and managed to make it look fashionable), if anyone in the real world actually puts together ensembles like that? You know, without a team of stylists working for them?

While I can certainly put together an outfit for an occasion, I'm sorry to say I don't dress quite to the nines every time I hit Whole Foods. And even then, I look around, and I'm not the worst dressed person in the building. This is depressing.

The Sartorialist has renewed my confidence in the world's ability to dress for everyday activities. The blog consists of pictures of fabulous (but for the most part, regular) people on the street (and occasionally at a fashion show, but not the models), and was started by a man who had been in the fashion industry for years. It has garnered numerous awards and is a Time Magazine Top 100 Design Influencer -- I know for certain it has influenced me. How will it change your closet?
