Mary-Kate Olsen's lazy style

Mary-Kate OlsenMary-Kate Olsen is utterly baffled as to why she's considered a fashion icon (and that makes two of us). Women all over the world have been inexplicably drawn to her "homeless chic" style of giant, layered dresses and sweaters, but apparently, MK's trendsetting status came about entirely by accident.

Daylight Savings Time - How will you use that extra hour?

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

Daylight Savings Time is right around the corner, and like everyone else, we're pretty excited to get that extra hour in. But what should we do with it? According to a recent survey, women want to use that time to get some beauty sleep, while men have, uh, more physical bedroom activities on the brain.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: The gift of sleep

Filed under: Holiday Style, Swimwear and Lingerie, Gift Guides

Give the Gift of Sleep
When you think about, sleep is a key element during the holidays. The days are shorter which makes you ready to pass out at 5:00pm, holiday shopping is exhausting, and you need to get some shut eye while waiting for Santa -- there is a lot of sleep happening in December. With all of that sleeping the proper sleepwear is a must have, so give the gift of sleep this holiday season.

Pajama Mama: P.J.'s aren't just for kids anymore; adult pajamas are just as fun to wear and are almost cuter than kids' pajamas. Sleep in stripes, penguins, sweet and treats, or kiss up to Santa by wearing him to bed.

Snuggle up:
There is nothing festive about plain white sheets, show your girly side with these cozy pink sheets from Victoria's Secret. If Victoria's Secret is too low-end for you, maybe a $625 cashmere blanket will do the trick.

Sleepy extras:
A good nights sleep isn't a good nights sleep without those fun little extras like a Breakfast at Tiffany's sleep mask and a pair of slippers. If you want to go that extra mile with the extras, stock up on candy cane toothpaste from GoSmile and a robe from NAP.

How do you say "D'oh!" in Hindi?

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Celebrities with Style

Homer Simpson may be accused of many things, but a being fashion plate is not one of them. Nonetheless, Springfield's most notorious donut-downing dad will soon make his appearance on a line of clothes in India.

The apparel line will be produced by the Canadian Trio group, which has recruited Star Fox Licensing to merchandise the animated duds. According to reports, the line, which focuses heavily on lounge and sleepwear, includes basic knitted pants and t-shirts.

Of course, here in the states, Simpsons clothing seems like old hat, but this international venture marks the first time for Simpsons' emblazoned apparel to be available in India.

(Clearly the Indian subcontinent suffered greatly during its drought of kids wearing "Eat my shorts!" t-shirts.)

Pajamas in public: the controversy

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Swimwear and Lingerie

Pajamas are at the center of a hotly contested public etiquette controversy in Shanghai. On any given day in the major Chinese city, people can be found on the streets wearing pajamas. Jammie-haters suggest that the practice is unclean, disrespectful, and classless. Jammie-wearers, however, argue that there is nothing inappropriate or wrong about the habit.

The pajama situation is more widespread than you might think. A survey recently revealed that 25 percent of the population had family members who regularly wore nightclothes in public. Because many homes do not have indoor plumbing, the daily walk to the bathhouse with a towel and a toothbrush in PJ's is as much about comfort as it about necessity.

It's a little unclear how this debate will be resolved. Will it take a strictly-enforced decency law? Or will the public outcry shame folks out of wearing their pajamas on the streets? Who knows. One thing is certain, though, this culture clash isn't about to go away anytime soon.

Think Pink: silk pajamas

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Style for a Cause

think pink silk pajamasOh, the luxury of silk. And with silk in pajamas, you'll be off to dreamland with a wicked smile on your face in a matter of seconds. Of course, if you're weekend homebody, you can simply prance around your house in the pajamas all day long. These imported men's-style pajamas are 100% pink silk charmeuse with chocolate brown piping and can be monogrammed to make them even more special.

10% of the proceeds from the sale of these pajamas will go to the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund, supporting research, education, and outreach directed at the development of more effective approaches to early diagnosis and prevention of all women's cancers (not just breast cancer!).

The pajamas are available at Red Envelope for $115. Monogramming costs $10 more.
