Kanye gets arrested at LAX after run-in with paparazzi

Being an international music and style icon, rapper and sometimes clothing designer Kanye West has to be about as comfortable with getting mobbed by the paparazzi as one can get. Yet, it appears that even Kanye can sometimes lose his cool amidst the constant click of $10,000 cameras.

According to reports, at around 7:15am Thursday morning, Kanye and his manager/bodyguard Don Crowley got arrested for "felony vandalism." The altercation apparently broke out between West, Crowley, and two TMZ photographers in area just outside of LAX's security screening area. No word yet about what set Kanye off, but if we had to guess, we'd say that he's probably not a morning person. Police originally considered battery charges for the star, but found no evidence and stuck with vandalism of a camera valued at over $10k.

TMZ apparently got the whole thing on video. To be fair, if there's any time or place that we wouldn't want the paprazzi in our face, it's at 7:15am just before we have to go through an airport security probing. Bad timing.

Imagine a Photoshop-free magazine cover

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Now this is a group movement we can get behind! Dodai over at Jezebel tipped us off to this campaign to get a major magazine to publish a cover without any Photoshopping!

Considering the egregiously heavy handed state of retouching these days, this would be a radical move. Remember the big Faith Hill before and after Redbook cover? The weird gold Gwyneth Paltrow cover of W? The "Is that really Drew Barrymore" Vogue cover? And this Marie Claire cover of Tina Fey, where she looks great, but not quite like herself...

Seriously, when you have to make these women look "better" to sell your product, your standards of beauty are warped.

Hurry! Kate Moss' hair extensions on Ebay

Filed under: Accessories, Hair Care, Celebrities with Style

Is it possible to be totally impressed and totally creeped-out at the exact same time?
Because that's pretty much the way we felt when we say that a German paparazzi type was holding one of Kate Moss' hair extensions hostage on Ebay. Apparently, while Kate was in Berlin last month, promoting her new fragrance Velvet Hour -- she had a wardrobe malfunction that's making this guy at least €805 ($1,269) as we write this post.

The story, as best we can translate, goes something like this: Kate was leaving her Velvet Hour afterparty thing, looking hot and showing off her flowing locks on the red carpet, when -- boink! -- one of her hair extensions popped out. Then, this opportunistic photographer dude immediately realized its value and snatched it up. Easiest couple thousand bucks that guy's probably ever made.

Anyway, you've got a little more than a day left to place your bid. If you're into that creepy, celebrity-stalking thing.

Kung Fu Pregnant: Angelina Jolie and Jack Black

Angelina Jolie has been making headlines all week. Of course, she is a walking headline every week, and whenever she and Mr. Brad Pitt show themselves the crowds go wild. We feel their pain.

When not comparing baby bumps with costar Jack Black (key player in Twin-Gate), who is also expecting (well, his wife is), she is making the rounds at Cannes to promote their new animated film Kung Fu Panda. Oh, and she is having some fun with the media. Why not?

Lindsay Lohan launches leggings line

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

We can see how Lindsay Lohan's mind works: celebrities have endorsed and designed (or in most cases, "designed") everything from perfume to bed linens, motor scooters to jeans... so why not launch a leggings line?

Because no-one asked for or wanted one, perhaps?

Keep the paparazzi at bay with reflective photo spray

Imagined by We Make Money Not Art, a style/fashion/art collective with contributors from the UK, Japan and Germany, this reflective photo spray can't stop the paparazzi from taking your photo -- but it can make shooting your more or less pointless.

The idea is simple. Because the spray is filled with super-reflective nanoparticles, it messes with camera sensors, and makes anything you spray it with look like a white flash when photographed.

At the moment, it's only a theory, but the technology exists to make it possible. The concept for the spray based on an existing project by Hewlett-Packard. The company is working on an electronic badge that, according to the Times Online, "will allow the publicity-shy to transmit an infrared signal to any nearby compatible camera. Once activated, the camera's software will automatically blur beyond recognition the face of anybody wearing the badge."

Granted, that article is from 2004, so who knows if they ever completed that project. Given the number of celebrity photos I see every day, I guess the badge never made it off the ground.

That said, it's certainly an exciting prospect for anyone who's sick of being chased by paparazzi every time they leave their house.

Coffee with a touch of Coke

Filed under: Fashionable Food, Style in the News

Coffee has soared in popularity over the past few years, which is obvious with the increase in coffee shops around the world.

Apparently Atlanta-based Coca-Cola wanted in on this caffeine-fused phenomenon. A few months ago, they introduced Coca-Cola BlaK -- "Coke effervescence with coffee essence."

Coke is clearly pushing for this to be the new trendy drink. Take a quick look at the website and you see an artsy/modern color theme of oranges, browns, and black. There's even a video of a Coke BlaK bottle being photographed by paparazzi.

I haven't ventured to the store quite yet for a taste of this soda slash java concoction, but if it really will "enliven my senses" as the website proclaims -- then maybe I need to give it a try.
