Jessica Szohr - From Red Carpet To Your Closet

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Jessica Szohr
We've harped on Jessica Szohr's red carpet style in the past, but suddenly, she seems to get it. She's looking fresh and young (and much less sloppy than she looked here), and -- dare we say it? -- we'd love to snag her look.

Becki Newton
Okay, so this picture of Becki Newton isn't super recent -- it's from a couple of months ago -- but we love the idea of wearing something like this for a holiday party. What's that? You haven't started planning your party outfits yet? Shame on you!

Swapping parties (they're not what you think)

Filed under: Clothing, Steals and Deals

One of our biggest frustrations is looking at our closet, which is packed with clothes, and having nothing to wear. Without doubt, we could walk into a friend's closet and find several great outfits, and probably, a friend could do the same in ours. So, why not have a swapping party and let everyone end up with a new outfit?

170 years of Tiffany & Co. is celebrated ... with pigs in a blanket

When you think of Tiffany and Co., you imagine luxury and opulence, champagne and caviar. But, that's not exactly what the uniformed waiters were serving on their trays at a recent party celebrating John Loring's latest book, Tiffany Style: 170 Years of Design.

Rather than serve hors d'oeuvres one would expect at such a fete, they served pigs-in-a-blanket. A nod to the weak economy, perhaps? Loring says no, insisting, "That's just American folklore."

Folklore it may be, but all we know is that if we were attending a party having anything to do with Tiffany, we'd be looking for snack foods we didn't tire of in middle school.

Miley Cyrus cleans up her image at 16th birthday bash

If you're a famous teen in need of a bit of an image makeover, there's not better, more wholesome place to have your birthday bash than at Disneyland in California. Miley Cyrus and 5,000 of her closest friends celebrated her sixteenth birthday a month and a half early this past weekend.

Katy Perry croons for D&G

Filed under: Style in the News

The fashion crowd loves to party. Like a lot. And besides the ultra-exclusive guest list and equally fabulous party decor, great music is a quintessential part of every news worthy Fashion Week bash.

To that end, it should come as no surprise that the sexy Milan duo known as Dolce & Gabbana tapped the girl-loving Katy Perry to sing her poppy tunes at the designer's showcase they held at their headquarters in Via Broggi last week.

Wearing a sequins number from D&G's spring '09 and clutching a bubble gum pink microphone, the American singer put on a mini concert for a bevy of models, power editors, and socialites. No word if she actually kissed a girl that night, but that's because everyone was probably too busy trying not to catch a cold, or something like that.

Make your cake sparkle with Very Different Cakes

If you're anything like us, you know a party needs three things -- delicious wine, good music, and cake. Being the fashionistas that we are, we don't want to serve just a plain old sheet cake, no siree. We want our cake to be memorable, especially if it's for a special occasion. And not that we have anything against iced flowers, but we want decorations that reflect our personal style.

We want flowers, and birds, and glitz! Give us whimsy, give us glamor -- give us Very Different Cakes!

Sex and the City DVD release party - not fab

Sarah Jessica Parker was fabulous as always at the Sex and City big ol' DVD release party. But, unfortunately, insider reports say that the party in and of itself was not fab at all.

Fashionable football fans - Options for the fellas

Sure, football is a good excuse for guys to get together to grill, drink beer, argue about plays and stats -- to put it simply, it's a great way for them to bond. But, for the halfway fashion conscious guy, it's also a perfect chance to dress to impress. Because you have automatic colors to work with, you have the ability to play around a little more with the form while still looking like "one of the guys."

Think about how men dressed for sporting events 50 years ago -- they didn't need loud graphics to show their school spirit. Instead, they relied on classic pieces in the right colors, and that's something that's easy for you to do, too.

Click through the gallery for some tips on being a fashionable fan. You never know who's going to stop by your tailgate party!

Fashionable football fans - Options for the ladies

Football season is upon us, and we here at StyleList could not be more excited. We love the fervor leading up to the game. We love the social aspect and the tailgating. And, of course, we love football itself, even if some of the uniforms aren't as stylish as we'd like.

When attending a game, tailgate. or party, you probably want to wear something that shows your support for your team. However, this year we're going to ask you to get a little creative. Do you really think your old t-shirt and jeans is the best ensemble you can come up with? You dress well every other day, especially for social events -- this should be no different.

Debra Messing - From Red Carpet to Your Closet

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Call us purists, but we love when people wear the shades that work best with their hair and skin color. We like blonds in blue, and we really love redheads in green. Needless to say, we think Debra Messing looks absolutely stunning in this green wraparound dress.

She hit a perfect mix of sleek, sexy, and feminine with this look, and it's a look you can easily modify to suit yourself. Check out the gallery to see how!

Dress of the day - Carmen Marc Valvo red sateen belted dress

Cocktail party season will soon be upon us (and just between us, we can't wait!) so it pays to make like a Boy Scout and start your shopping now. Of course, it's not like this is such a terrible chore - especially with the abundance of sophisticated retro-inspired pieces in the market right now - like this seductive red-satin number by Carmen Marc Valvo. It's something we could imagine Joan Holloway wearing to the annual office party, which makes it a winner in our book.

Mini will party like a rock star at Fashion Week

Filed under: Style in the News

The news about which designer heavyweights will be throwing some of Fashion Week's most luxe and exclusive parties is slowing starting to trickle out, and so far, a very unsuspecting source seems to be planning the most fab party of them all:

Instead of launching an ad campaign in America, Mini, the BMW-owned company that Madonna name dropped in a song a couple of years ago, will be throwing a bash on a rooftop for the "creative class of New York."

The company expects 6,000 people to swing by the 10-day event, which will feature a workshop by photographer Michael Comte and L'Uomo Vogue, and a few other impossibly cool things like a performance by MGMT and an event curated by Dazed & Confused publisher, Jefferson Hack.

Sounds fun, no?
