Face it -- when an award show is coming up, what do you get excited about? Here at StyleList, we are not ashamed to admit that we are far more excited about the red carpet than the actual show. The awards that matter most to us are the Best and Worst Dressed awards.

While celebs inevitably go all out for events like the Emmys, that means that some stars look amazing while others ... well, others don't exactly hit the nail on the head. By no means are we ready to to throw in the towel after one or two fashionn disasters, though -- in fact, we have high hopes for these stars' red carpet style at this year's Emmys! Take a look at their looks from last year, and we think you'll agree -- it's time for some redemption!

Admit it, when Paula Abdul had to wear a sling and have surgery -- and lost her thumbnail! -- because of her wacky nail salon fungus problem, you were scared.

We all were.

The Annual CMT Awards brought out a surprising variety of celebrities for their show this year. And as usual, it seems most country singers did not consult their stylist before hitting up the red carpet. There some hits, and a whole lot of misses. Ladies, how many times have you kept your boyfriend or husband waiting while you fussed over yourself for a night out? Guys, how many times have you been obnoxious about this, complaining about being late instead of appreciating that at least one person in your relationship gives a rat's ass about they look. Most of us have grown to accept that this is a part of dating, marriage, etc. Once you're betrothed, you're never on time for anything ever again -- it's just how it goes.

Paula Abdul, however, has pushed this to the extreme. The sloppy drunk/American Idol host has been dating JT Torregiani, a restaurateur -- but rumor has it that the relationship is on the rocks. And while some people point to Torregiani's playboy behavior (flirting with other women, yadda yadda), most suspect that the real culprit is Paula's ridiculous beauty routine.

Last night's American Idol featured the classic tunes of the good humored yet kinda scary-looking Dolly Parton. Oddly enough, it wasn't Dolly's crimes against fashion that raised eyebrows. Instead, it was Carly Smithson who got picked on for her plain jane and specifically non superstar-like attire. Simon stopped short of ripping her a new one, but he definitely called her out.

Lets face it, looks matter big time -- especially on American Idol. If Carly wants to win, she has to do a better job at looking the part. Watching the performance last night, we thought she looked a little bit like she dressed herself. Do you think Carly's look is OK? Or is she in desperate need of a Miles Siggins makeover?

Monday night on American Idol, Paula Abdul provided one of the most jaw-dropping, crazy fashion moments of her career.

As always, Jessica from Go Fug Yourself did a stellar job of expressing the shock and awe that Paula's black, silk, fingerless, opera-length gloves, plus -- PLUS! -- rhinestone accessories, inspired in all of us.

I was so inspired, that I went back and pulled together a gallery of some of Paula's most interesting sartorial hits. Honestly, she looks good more than she looks bad - no, really! - but when she goes off the rails, fasten your seatbelt!

Yep that's right folks ... another celebrity branded perfume, as if our fragrance hangover wasn't bad enough with the lingering aroma of breast milk and malt liquor aka Britney Spears' perfume. And my nostrils are still bleeding from the stench of Marc Antony's morning breath and drag queen approved cosmetics aka J Lo's Glow perfume. Now, I have to be sick from Paula's perfume. Great. Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse.

I would imagine if you were to actually spray this perfume on your body you would probably end up with a DUI (if you watch this video, you will know exactly what I mean). I watched the video twice and I still can't figure out the name of the perfume through Paula's drunken banter, I think she said Love Spell or something that has to do with love. But honestly, who cares ... is anyone really going to buy this trash? If anyone out there raised there hand "yes," I hope you don't like having friends because you won't have any after a spritz of this junk.
