Kate Winslet - Vanity Fair cover prompts retouching rumors

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Kate Winslet is one of our most favorite actresses in the world. (Kate, next time you're in San Francisco, lunch is on us. Seriously -- we'll take you for a lobster club at Neiman Marcus that will change your life!) So we're firmly on her side in the "Vanity Fair Photoshop or not" debate.

Was the Jolie-Pitt baby cover Photoshopped?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Kids and Babies

Last night we brought you news of the Brangelina twins splashed across the cover of People magazine. Since then you'd have been lucky to read any article on any website about anything at all without running into photos of the smiling pair and their new adorable offspring.

But wait, are they really that adorable -- or did People magazine's photo editors use the magic of technology to make them look a little, erm, sunnier? If you look at the enlarged photo at right (full version here), you'll notice that little Vivienne is smiling. Cute, right? Yeah...except that, according to Parenting magazine, babies don't smile from external simulation until 2-4 months.

So either Brad and Angie had their babies in secret a month and a half earlier than we all thought, or People is working really hard to get their $14 million worth.

Sarah Lawson: The face of Christian Audigier

Filed under: Style in the News

Surprise! George Clooney just broke up with his model girlfriend, Sarah Lawson.

We suspect it must have had something to do with the fact that he was intimidated by her overarching knowledge of Benny Ninja's America's Next Top Model posing catalog, but more seriously, he was probably just as annoyed as we were with that little spread in Harper's Bazaar Miss Lawson sat pretty for about a month ago.

You know, the one where she poses in a thousand dollar ball gown on top of a motorcycle and smugly states how awesome it is to be Mr. Clooney's boo.

Jennifer Lopez spends $2.6 million on earrings

You know how the cool thing to do if you're a celebrity is to get paid bajillions for your baby's pictures and then donate all the money to charity? Well, that's not cool enough for Jennifer Lopez.

Ever the diva, miss thang expected her hubby, Mark Anthony, to lay down a serious amount of cash money in order to prove his love after the birth of their twins. Fortunately, People magazine paid them $6 million dollars for the rights to their baby pictures so Mr. Lopez was able to afford the $2.6 million dollar earrings that Jennifer had her eyes on.

Christina's baby pics bomb

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

I don't know why nobody wants to look at People magazine's exclusive photos of Christina Aguilera and her baby. Maybe the thought of Xtina having a baby is just plain disturbing. For whatever reason, the NY Post is reporting that the baby pictures issue is on track to sell a measly 1.3 million copies -- an average issues sells 1.4 million.

It seems like a pretty crappy return on an investment of $1.5 million, but People's Managing Editor said he'd "do the deal again in a minute." Do notice that he said minute -- not a heartbeat -- and a minute is a lot longer than a heartbeat. Still, you'd think that Aguilera w/child pics would be enough to keep sales from dropping.

Oh well, at least People jumped at the chance to exploit a fading pop star -- they really can't be blamed for the poor sales. Maybe Nicole Richie's baby pics will fly off the shelf.
