Why aren't you wearing this? Patched Bag

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Must Haves

We've been traveling a lot this month, so our eye is continually drawn to big bags that can easily hold all of our stuff as we slough through gracefully make our way through airport after airport. But, of course, we don't just want a big ol' canvas tote -- we only carry handbags that add to our overall look, not ones that take us down a notch. If there's more to carry than will fit in the bag, well ... isn't that what boys are for?

Anyway, this Patched Bag, available at Spiegel for $59, isn't quite as big as some we've had our eye on, but it definitely has the style factor. And, we like that it has multiple pockets on the inside, so we can stash (and easily find) our passport, gum, lip gloss, money, and whatever other smallish goodies we can't leave home without.

It also comes in red, which we're not opposed to, but for some reason we're just loving this rich brown. Wouldn't you get loads of use from it?

Got your Daisy Dukes yet?

According to fashion experts like Us Magazine, denim shorts are a must have item for summer.

This particular clothing item has always sort of baffled us. Shorts are great for hot weather, cool and easy to get around in. However, most denim is heavy, hot and sweaty, making them sort of an odd choice for the heat. But, we don't set the fashions, we just judge them.

There is a pretty broad range of shorts out there, in terms of length, wash and pocket action. Also in terms of price, ranging from under $20 all the way to $350. For shorts!

Sailor pants are on sale all over the place

Filed under: Clothing, Jeans, Steals and Deals

Big wide sailor pants has been around for long enough that they no longer look insanely, freakishly highwaisted. Pretty much every designer and retailer has a version, and even better sale prices are popping up all over the place.

If you've been waiting to try this style, get a move on, because the sale rack is the first sign of "over" for every trend. We estimate you have four to six months to wear your new sailor pants. By the holidays it will be all leggings and tights.

Wedding dresses have pockets now. Neat!

j crew priscilla wedding dress with pockets
We'll be honest. We weren't even aware that J.Crew sold wedding dresses, but tonight, we have discovered that not only does the brand with which we will forever associate the "barn jacket" have wedding dresses, but they have wedding dresses with pockets. We're not quite sure how we feel about this. On the one hand, it's a wedding dress, which already puts it at a disadvantage because you will never wear it again and for God's sake, it's for a wedding. On the other hand, if you're going to wear a wedding dress, why wouldn't you want a place to stash...your car keys? Because everyone knows that every bride always needs to have her keys handy. Or something.

(By the way, looking at the picture on the left, is it just us or does this make her look pregnant?)

Need a booty lift? Try western pockets

Over the past few years, booty-lifting jeans have become all the rage, promising everything from physical lifting to visual lifting.

But from me to you, forget the expensive bum-lifting hype. If you want your tush to look perkier, invest in a pair of jeans with western-style pockets. While I can't put my finger on what exactly western pockets do for the junk in your truck (the curves? the length?), but whatever they do, it works.

Western pocket jeans are slightly harder to find since a number of popular denim companies don't use them. On the higher end, True Religion Jeans has a number of styles to play this Jedi mind trick with your backside. Obviously, the model in the photograph all but lacks a rear-end (EAT A SANDWICH, WOULD YOU?), so it's hard to trust me based on this image alone. But if you find a pair of True Religion jeans, give them a try. I think you'll like what you see.
