Why Aren't You Wearing This? Fair Isle Slipper Bootie

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

So, you're lounging around your house on a cold, winter morning. It's snowy outside, and you have a hot cup of coffee, and maybe even a hotter date with whom you can cuddle on the couch. This isn't the time for slinky and sexy -- this is the time for cute.

Lucy Sykes sundresses for girls

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Dresses, Kids and Babies

At some point this summer, there will be a family reunion, wedding or christening. If the good news is that kids are invited, but the bad news is the idea of an itchy, stiff dress turning your little princess into a monster, then check out Lucy Sykes New York, and all the pretty sundresses.

Beautiful prints, lightweight cotton, and, for a special party dress, fairly reasonable prices -- certainly under $100. It's not Target, but it's also not Dior. The dresses have a classic shape, with twirly skirts and enough ruffles to be festive without looking like a square dancing costume. They are also refreshingly free of glitter or other Bratz-like flair.

Sykes and her doubtlessly beautiful family -- including sons Titus and Heathcliff -- spend weekends in the Hamptons and jet around the world to Paris, Milan and London. Lucy tries to infuse her dresses with the spirit of these places. We're not sure if she succeeds, but we can definitely imagine them on some little girls we know, playing tag while the grown ups sip celebratory cocktails. Now that's a summer party.

Ash Francomb makes sunny t-shirts

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Ash Francomb is a self-described "sunny" boutique. What does this mean? Are solar panels involved? Not that we know of. However, we have a theory that the sunshine is in the shirts, figuratively. All of the prints are modern takes on vintage design and they promote "passion for adventure, the ocean, nature, and music into visual art meant to inspire their fans to 'live life like a road trip' and to travel the globe in search of endless summers and memories that will last a lifetime..."

Ice Cream waffles, bag and shoes

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Men, Celebrities with Style

We are big fans of all things ice cream and/or waffles. It's a guilty pleasure that we don't really feel all that guilty about.

That's why we were so excited to see Billionaire Boys Club sister brand Ice Cream, both part of Pharrell's master plan to take over the world, release the "Ice Cream Canvas Waffle Shoes" and "Ice Cream Waffle Messenger Bag." These things of ice cream and waffle won't make you fat, but they can make you phat. Yes, I really wrote that.

Why aren't you wearing this? Tribal Safari Print Headband

So, you want to embrace this season's trend of ethnic prints, but you're not sure you're ready for this -- that's okay. The great thing about bold trends in prints and colors is that you don't have to commit to a whole outfit. You can accessorize to get the look, and as an added bonus, you won't break the bank!

Dress of the Day: Sophia Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

sophia dress, deliasI love the look of large tropical or floral prints on over-sized dresses, but sometimes I'm afraid of looking like Mrs. Roeper in a muu muu. There's a way to get around that, of course, by shortening the hem, updating the shape, and adding a few details, like a simple (and super inexpensive) dress from Delia's.

The Sophia dress is made of a royal blue and white floral pattern on a satin-finish fabric. It features a wide, gentle scoop neckline that doesn't need a necklace but would be fine with an amulet on a long chain, slightly puffed half-sleeves that gather just below the elbows, and a contrasting trim at the hem that falls 34". I'm seeing bare legs and pair of dull gold flats.

Available at Delia's for $44.50.

Dress of the Day: Trina Turk Bonita Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

trina turk bonita minidressWe know that the jeweled neckline is "in," but we're still a little too chicken-shy to wear rhinestones and gems the size of baseballs stitched onto our collars. The U-shaped neckline on Trina Turk's Bonita Dress has, instead, more subtle sequins that whisper rather than scream "look at my chest!" The hothouse floral silk shift that's fully lined with cotton has flared bell sleeves and (barely) falls about 16" from the waist.

Available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $338.
