Low SPF Doesn't Protect Skin - StyleLIES

korresWe recently got to test out Korres' Wild Rose Cream SPF 6. While we absolutely loved the product, we couldn't wrap our heads around how SPF 6 could protect our skin. It got us thinking, "What's with all these products with low SPF and do they even protect?" So we went straight to the source and consulted with Korres' Director of Education.

Brad Pitt's hour-long beauty routine

Filed under: Skin Care, Celebrities with Style

It's a pretty well-accepted fact that Brad Pitt is prettier than most guys, regardless of their age. Hell, he's prettier than a good percentage of women we know! And while we're not sure we buy this story in its entirety (the National Enquirer isn't exactly the most reliable source), we think there's probably a good bit of truth in it.

Apparently, Brad Pitt spends an hour every night applying various cleansers, toners, creams, and balms to his face, including his $1400 a jar Creme de la Mer anti-aging moisturizer. And, once a week, he applies an olive oil-based cream on his hands and feet to keep his skin soft and supple. He even wears gloves and socks to bed to make sure he gets the full moisturizing benefits.

Burt's Bees and Julianne Moore team up to promote "natural"

Filed under: Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Green Fashion

Lots of companies claim to be all natural, but when you read the labels (which you must do) the list of scary, crazy chemical ingredients is enough to turn you green - literally and figuratively.

Julianne Moore and Burt's Bees are partnering up to eliminate the need for all that fine print reading and make it easier for us to figure out when products are really all natural.

Along with some like-minded brands, Burt's Bees worked closely with the Natural Products Association to develop a The Natural Seal. When you see the seal you know that the ingredients are at least 95% natural.

Julianne Moore comes into the picture as part of the activity to raise awareness of this seal. With her glowing, translucent skin and natural beauty, she is the perfect spokesperson for this movement.

Tip of the day: Start using Ojon... like right now.

Filed under: Men, Hair Care, Cosmetics, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

We have never been so smitten with a product before than Ojon's Restorative Treatment. We love, love, love this product. We've tried countless hair treatments and have raided the local Sephora far too many times but this... this stuff is the real deal.

We first heard about Ojon when our silly obsession with Gisele Bunchen's long mane brought us to the word. "Gisele uses Ojon. Must learn more." Apparently a little tribe in Central America called the Miskito Indians has been harvesting the fruits of the tree that bears the Ojon oil for centuries. When the tribe was discovered one of the first things noted was their stunning hair and skin. We mean, well... hot damn, just check out that kid's hair in the picture!

Still not convinced? Here are some more reasons you should totally give this stuff a whirl.

What's your best secret for thick, shiny hair?

The Stylelist post about hair myths and truths got us thinking about our favorite hair gear.

Their expert sort of, um, debunked volumizing shampoos, but we love thickening products. In fact, three of our top five faves are thickening related!

They also said that a blow out is vital for high volume, and this combined dryer/round brush is another big favorite.

Now it's your turn. What are your cherished hair beautifiers? Best products, styling tools, techniques? Don't be shy, come on and share!

We can't wait to hear from you!

The Second City Style Beauty Olympics have been in the works for months, with staff members and readers testing hundreds of products out and giving their honest opinions on everything from makeup to skincare to hair, supplements, fragrances, and more.

It's a really helpful guide that you might want to check out before you need your next lip gloss fix. You get those too, right?

Take a test drive for free beauty products

What would you do for free Dior beauty products? How about taking a spin in a new Chrysler Sebring? Chrysler has a new test drive promotion called Awaken Your Senses that gives away a Dior Beauty To Go Kit worth around $75 with a test drive of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible or the 2007 Sebring sedan. If you aren't interested in doing the test drive (not sure why you would turn down a free spin in a convertible) a deals blog has an interesting workaround so that you can get the kit anyway.
