FiFi Fragrance Gossip - Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah

Nothin' but Blige. Photo: Stephen Lovekin, Getty Images.

Mary J. Blige definitely knows how to work a stage (I saw her live at MSG with Jay-Z earlier this year). But what does she know about perfume? We asked what her upcoming scent is like:

"It was soft, it was musky, it was floral, it was everything, I loved it." She seemed genuinely enamored.

The scent, My Life, is a collaboration with Carol's Daughter, a line that Blige is already involved in. The bottles are going to be super-luxe, and the name, of course, corresponds with Mary's album.

Tip of the day: My Cover Girl

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

For years we've been choosing makeup shades that we think look good. Until My Covergirl came along. By using the interactive website and plugging in hair color, eye color, and skin tone, we got a personalized list of Cover Girl products. Being a little bit wary of the "perfect" match, we order some of the suggestions that the Beauty Consultant made. Low and behold each color transformed us into a natural beauty. We looked like ourselves – only better. Finally! Now our favorite and tip folders are full as is our Covergirl.com shopping cart.

Now women can smell like Antonio Banderas

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Move over fragrance experts with your fancy Italian names, it seems that people can't get enough of fragrances by Queen Latifah, Avril Lavigne, Derek Jeter, and eve Tim McGraw. Antonio Banderas has apparently been such a successful name in the fragrance business, that he's teamed up with Puig Beauty USA to debut his first fragrance for women called Blue Seduction. We were pretty surprised to find that this will be the 5th fragrance to bear the Banderas name.

According to market analysts, celebrity fragrances are the hottest way to merge mass with class -- and Antonio Banderas' image is a near perfect sales rep. Antonio's Latin lover persona is apparently something that dudes want to emulate and women want to get with. If his success with men's cologne is any indicator, Blue Seduction should be a top 10 seller and the big chain stores. We remember when Michael Jordan's fragrance debuted in the 90's, it seemed really confusing and not so classy. We thought: who wants to smell like sweat and Gatorade? We were wrong.

Scenes from the Curvation Runway

Plus size and the catwalk don't always go together so it's exciting whenever bigger girls get to walk the runway. Recently at the Mandarin Oriental in New York, Queen Latifah presented the prize for the Curvation's Project Confidence to Shelly Thomas, the founder of the InnerBeauty Foundation. Thomas's foundation helps women suffering from drug abuse, homelessness, violence and disease with access to programs and services to restore their lives.

The presentation also included a runway show of plus-sized fashion. Curvation sells intimate apparel and they also have a whole line of clothing which is inspired by Queen Latifah as a plus-size icon. I looked through the pictures of the fashion show and picked some of the prettiest outfits; check them out after the jump.
