Avon Recruits Truck Driver to Hawk Beauty Products

Reese Witherspoon made a smart move by signing on as Avon's global ambassador. The company is booming! New Zealand news web site Stuff recently profiled the company's Australian division's spike in door-to-door salespeople – 7,000 new representatives in February alone.

Normally, we'd probably just say "saleswomen," but Avon's newest recruits span age -- and gender. The Australian division told the news site that as a result of the recession and growing unemployment rate, it has the most unlikely candidates entering the beauty sales field.

Fashion is always about the transition into something else, something new. So in the spirit of evolution, we hereby announce that the day of the statement necklace is dead. Today, it's all about the statement-making, shoulder-dusting, gemstone-filled earring ala Reese Witherspoon in November's Vogue. We haven't seen earrings this big since Beyonce made them a staple in the early 2000's and we are loving every minute of pulling ours out of the back bin.

Alright, so we know Reese wore this a while back but it made us very excited for her upcoming press tour to promote her new movie with Vince Vaughn, Four Christmases. Her style is so polished but she always looks so darn comfortable too!

Break it down and you'll find a simple tee, straight black pants, classic pumps, and a blazer. But what makes it so fresh and so Reese is the great pops of purple and the adorable, playful smile.

Over at In Style there is a fun widget that helps you find your celebrity makeup match. Are you a blond more like Gwen Stefani or Reese Witherspoon? Reese Witherspoon caught our eye in the ads for Avon's new Pro-to-Go lipstick. We thought, that's nice but a bit surprising to see someone so A-list shilling for Avon. Still, a single mom's gotta do what she's gotta do, right?

Then we noticed the incredibly nifty lipstick applicator and all thoughts of Reese flew out of our head. It's designed so that you can flick it open, apply, and flick it closed with just one hand. So cool!
