Why aren't you wearing this? Juicy Couture Cashmere Bow and Ruffles Scarf

We absolutely love it when the weather turns just cool enough that we need to wear a light sweater. To warm it up just a little bit, our favorite trick is a warm scarf -- it takes up almost no room, unlike a coat, so if the weather warms up we can just tuck it away in our handbag, but if we get cold, wrapping it around our neck really does the trick.

The Limited now knows no limits

Filed under: Stores We Love, Clothing

We've been shopping at The Limited for years. They tend to have something for everyone -- from casual to dressy, modest to va-va-voom. However, the only way to purchase their clothes was to go to the store. Seriously -- The Limited didn't have ecommerce available ... until now.

You can now go online and shop to your heart's content. Look for versatile pieces, like this ridiculously cute Ruffle Shirt Dress (wear it now with peep toes, in the winter with boots and a cardigan, and again in the spring with strappy heels). It's just $69.50, so not only will you get plenty of opportunities to wear it, but you'll have money left over to accessorize (and we've got the accessories you need from The Limited in the gallery!)!

Dress of the day - Leifsdottir Ruffle Dress

Tuxedo-style ruffles dress up this girlish shift by Leifsdottir and make it one heck of layering piece this fall. Add a cardigan to highlight the bodice ruffles or better yet, show off the buttons and cut-outs at the back of the dress (click on the jump to see a picture.)

Dress of the day - Silk ruffle dress by Banana Republic

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Daily Obsession, Must Haves

If you've been wanting to try ruffles this fall but haven't figured out how to wear them to the office, this silk dress by Banana Republic is a great way to do it. We adore the ruffled collar - it's a feminine and quality detail, and the ruffles that cascade down the bodice are reminiscent of those secretary shirts from the 80s, but much more chic. The defined waist and straight skirt are professional and extremely flattering, because you don't have to look like a man to be all business.

$150 at Banana Republic

Dress of the day - Jen's Pirate Booty Poncho Villa V-Neck Mini Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

So what if for most of us this is less a dress and more of a top? (Don't believe us? The dress is only 30" long from the shoulder to hem. Ahem.) We think that the gauzy ruffles are fabulous and that this lime green dress would look fabulous paired with a pair of dark wash jeans. As an added bonus, the tiers of ruffled goodness will hide a multitude of sins, so this dress/top will be a friend to a variety of body types - not just the gorgeously long and lean.

Dress of the day - Rolling Rings dress MARC by Marc Jacobs

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

Ruffles are a huge fall trend - they're feminine and flirty but can be cloyingly sweet if not handled deftly, which is why we love the bold zipper cutting across the bodice of this Marc Jacobs dress.

Act like a burlesque star, try a pair of frilly panties

Filed under: Vintage and Retro, Swimwear and Lingerie, Celebrities with Style

Sometimes sexy is more about innuendo than flesh. Burlesque stars, like the ravishing Miss Dita Von Teese, know this well. Her site is titillating and sexy and very suggestive. And yet, so tastefully done!

It just goes to show: a thong is sexy, but concealing and revealing your mystery with some well placed ruffles can really raise blood pressure. And other things.

Getting up on stage like Dita and doing a striptease is a bit of a stretch for most of us. But you can bring that excitement home with a few well chosen items. Online lingerie shop Pandora's Choice has a whole range of corsets, glamorous retro underwear, and bottom-less French knickers.

Want to start slow? Slip on a pair of frilly panties and make that navy blue business suit a little naughty. You know you have it in you!

Tip of the day: Tiered skirts

Zac Posen
Let's play a little game. When we say "tiered skirt", what's the first thing that comes to mind? Hippies? Flower power? Prairies? We're about to erase that perception from your mind. No, not by our mind boggling Tom Cruise like super powers (you wish!). It's far simpler than that. We're going to introduce you to the flirty skirts present at the Luella, Givenchy, and Zac Posen spring/summer 2008 runways.

From Red Carpet to Your Closet: Natalie Portman at Cannes

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Natalie Portman certainly showed her love of ruffles at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Nearly every dress she wore was covered in them! And while ruffles can be overwhelming, we love so many aspects of this look that we're willing to forget about the fact that you can't tell whether she's got a waist or a baby belly.

We know how you can successfully pull off a look similar to Natalie's -- check out the gallery to get the scoop!

Why aren't you wearing this: Ruffled canvas tote

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Must Haves

Sometimes it's hard to find the right balance between an item that's really useful and an item that's flirty and feminine. You want to show off your personal style, but you also have needs -- and if your needs are anything like our needs, that means you need to carry a fair amount of stuff on a daily basis.

We think that this Ruffled Canvas Tote, just $19.50 as a part of the European Collection at Gap, is a fantastic solution. It's girly and sweet, but it's still going to get the job done -- just like you!

Dress of the Day: J Crew Silk Twill Shirtdress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

j crew silk twill shirtdressWe love shirt dresses, yes we do, but having an entire closet full of black and navy dresses that really look like shirts with belts is pretty boring. J.Crew's Silk Twill Shirt Dress adds interest to your wardrobe because of cool little features that are different from the typical collar, neckline , shirttail hemline, and cuffs of a standard shirtdress: printed fabric, deep scoop neckline, ruffled collar, bracelet-length sleeve and A-line gathered skirt.

The dress is available at jcrew.com for $180.

Dress of the Day: Twinkle Ruffle Sleeve Tunic Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

twinkle black and cream ruffle sleeve tunic dressTwinkle, Twinkle, you're a star, dress of the day, today you are.

I love this Ruffle Sleeve Tunic Dress from Twinkle by Wenlan for the subtle paradox it is. With short little ruffle sleeves, modest to-the-knee length, and slightly assymetrical hemline, the dress is sweet. However, if you look closely at the black-on-cream-print, you'll see that the nature scene is pixelated into a digital ladnscape -- futuristic! I'm thinking shoes that are just as paradoxical would work best here. A sweet round toe, with a fierce stiletto heel.

Twinkle by Wenlan's Ruffle Sleeve Tunic Dress is available on sale at Azalea for $100.
