What's your go-to?

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses

We all have days where we feel less than great about ourselves. We also all have days where we really need to look and feel our best. Unfortunately, sometimes those days coincide, which is a huge bummer.

When we have those days, we have a couple of go-to items. There's a particular dress in our closet that looks fabulous, even if we're feeling a little bloated. However, the thing that makes us feel really sexy is going for a run -- for some reason, working hard and getting sweaty always boosts our self-confidence.

Running replaces sex as #1 recommended weight control method in Japan

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

A new trend is taking over the streets of Japan, literally. People are running in huge numbers, particularly young women who live in the cities.

The fad is especially strong in trendy Tokyo, where women's corporate marathon clubs are meeting before and after work to do a few laps around the Imperial Palace. The main goal is to "stay healthy, pretty and sane" with the extra benefit of getting to show off special marathon gear from Danskin and New Balance.

Run barefoot, but wear shoes

vibram five fingers"Running barefoot" and "wear running shoes" certainly don't seem to belong in the same sentence, but there's a whole new category of footwear designed to help runners feel like they're running barefoot. Olympic running athletes have trained by running barefoot because it forces the runner to make a soft landing on the front of the foot, reducing the possibility of knee and ankle injuries. With the exception of the shoe from Puma, they aren't all that pretty, but hey, sometimes bare feet aren't all that pretty either.

Think pink this October: New Balance Pink Ribbon running jacket

Filed under: Clothing, Style for a Cause

new balance pink ribbon running jacketSure, we can't help but think of deep, dark browns, burnt oranges, and warm beiges when we think of the month of October. It's autumn, right?

But October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and to show your support for the cause, think pink! Sure, we know all about the little looped pink ribbon, but you can go even further to show your support with special products from beauty to clothing to gifts. We've already seen a pink laptop bag from Mobile Edge, but as we come across more of them, we'll point you to cool/cute/pretty/oh-so-stylish things that are on sale specifically to support breast cancer research and awareness.

First up, start your day with a healthy, energizing run or walk wearing this adorable, lightweight pink jacket from New Balance, available on their site for $63.99. If you need anything else for your fit lifestyle, New Balance has a whole line of products that they call "Pink Ribbon" special for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Work out, jiggle-free

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie

If you're one of the millions of women out there who don't exactly love to exercise, you'll probably agree that one of the more unpleasant parts of the activity is the inevitable boob-bounce. (The uniboob is pretty heinous as well, but we can only solve these problems one a time, ladies).

I say this from experience -- a jiggle-free sports bra is worth its weight in gold. But how many of us want to spend our gold on a piece of clothing which just gets really sweaty. (I don't know about you, but I'd much rather spend my money on clothing for non-existent cocktail parties and the size 2 figure I no longer have.)

Lucky for me, the online outlet of the outdoor outfitter (how's that for alliteration?) has put the SportHill Diva bra on sale. For a mere $17.95, you can take comfort that you will be sweating in style. And that, fashionfans, is priceless.
