Economy falls, panties drop

A weak economy affects everything, from homes, cars, and groceries all the way down to our undies. And lingerie retailers are feeling it, noting that even affluent customers are scaling way back on their panty purchases. Sales of big-ticket, upscale bra and panty sets (priced around $120) are falling, while sales of basic t-shirt bras and seamless panties are actually seeing increases.

Much like the mythical unicorn, or all-you-can-eat sushi bars that don't make you sick, I didn't actually believe that the Christian Louboutin sample sale existed. Well, I'm happy to report that I was wrong. Last month, an innocuous little email popped into my inbox out of nowhere, reading something like this:

Along with backyard BBQs, high temperatures, snow cones, and long days, summer brings awesome season-long sales.
Unless you're looking for a really specific item, and that's all you're looking for, shopping alone is not as fun as shopping with friends.
Remember when online shopping was the solution to pounding the streets for good deals on clothing and accessories? Well, now we have a solution for pounding the keyboard, too.
Not that they should have to "market," of course, but if the American Heart Association is going to pick one month out of the year to focus on heart health, they sure did the right thing with picking February -- we've got nothing but hearts, uh, on our brains. Not only are we pounded from left, right and center with heart-shaped things, but everything is pink and red. It's quite perfect actually, because today is National Wear Red Day, in support of Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association's effort to wipe out heart disease in women.
I love soft, neutral colors. I love 100% silk with satin banding. I love the comfort and ease of a wide, open neckline that doesn't choke and short, ruffled sleeves that don't get in my way. I love no waistline. I love minidresses that can go from daytime in the office to early evening at that cute bistro on the corner.
