Limited edition Swarovski trunks for those who want to be hated

Samsonite plus SwarovskiEvery once in a while, a product so outrageously extravagant and loud comes out that it boggles the mind that anyone would purchase it, braving the fiery death glares that they will surely face from strangers. A team-up between Samsonite and Swarovski have come up with such a product... Behold, the Samsonite Black Label trunk, covered in crystals and -- get this -- only 30 are in existence. Now, this thing is massive, so there's no way to subtly flash it like it's darling diamond earrings hiding under your hair until you pull it up. This thing is immediately and absolutely in-your-face and begging to be kicked over and smashed in a jealous rampage.

Hartmann luxe luggage

Like Samsonite's Black Label Vintage line, the Hartmann Luxe Collection harks back to the days when luggage had personality. Hartmann does their carry-ons and travelers in a wool/nylon blend fabric which is then trimmed in leather. The bags are sturdy and some of the pieces in the line have telescoping handles and wheels. The various pieces are available in apple green or sky blue, either one with brown polka dots. Prices start at $38 for a passport cover.

Matthew Williamson's Samsonite Signat

I keep falling for Samsonite's Black Label collection and the collaborations with top designers. My latest crush, the Signat Collection which reimagines the old school Signat attache in a fresh new way. Check out designer Matthew Williamson's hot version which features a key lock with color-coordinated keys and key charm accent and a hot pink brightly patterned interior with a cellphone pocket and separate makeup pouch. It weighs 2.4 pounds, making it a bit sturdy but I love the vintage gone kaleidoscope look.. It sells for $360. Some enterprising crafter could probably have quite a business finding old briefcases and retrofitting them up all girly style. All of us who grew up playing with our father's briefcases in the 1970s would snap them right up.

Alexander McQueen's sexy Samsonite

A while back over on Luxist we reported on the chic Samsonite Black Label line. Now Samsonite has partnered up with British fashion designer Alexander McQueen to create the Samsonite Black Label by Alexander McQueen. The collection includes bags with an elegant crocodile skin design and a wheeled case that rather creepily shows the imprint of a spine and rib cage. The pieces are lined with a feather print and come in black and bone. They will be available in stores February 2007.
