Find your nailpolish celebrity soulmate

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style

We copy their hair, buy the dresses they wear, and try to match fashions with our favorite celebrities. So it only makes sense that we would identify with the way they do their nails.

From demure pinks to glittery metallics to wild patterns and colors, there are a million ways to paint your nails. Next time you're at the nail salon, when they send you to pick your shade, ask yourself, who do I feel like being today? Dark and wild, yet sophisticated, like Charlize Theron? Young and trendy, like Scarlett Johansson? Or are you Barbra, with nails like buttah?

Tip of the day: Start using Ojon... like right now.

Filed under: Men, Hair Care, Cosmetics, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

We have never been so smitten with a product before than Ojon's Restorative Treatment. We love, love, love this product. We've tried countless hair treatments and have raided the local Sephora far too many times but this... this stuff is the real deal.

We first heard about Ojon when our silly obsession with Gisele Bunchen's long mane brought us to the word. "Gisele uses Ojon. Must learn more." Apparently a little tribe in Central America called the Miskito Indians has been harvesting the fruits of the tree that bears the Ojon oil for centuries. When the tribe was discovered one of the first things noted was their stunning hair and skin. We mean, well... hot damn, just check out that kid's hair in the picture!

Still not convinced? Here are some more reasons you should totally give this stuff a whirl.

Scarlett Johannson misses Cannes because she's a diva

Filed under: Hair Care, Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style

So far Woody Allen's new movie, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, has been a huge success at Cannes. There was a ten minute standing ovation after the film's debut, and critics and fans alike have applauded the film's stars from the moment they stepped on the red carpet.

Well, some of the film's stars, anyway -- Penelope Cruz and Rebecca Hall got to enjoy the praise, but Scarlett Johansson didn't make the trip to Cannes this year because the studio wouldn't accommodate her requests.

Scarlett Johansson sports kid's tattoo: New trend, or just lame?

Letting some stranger jab you with a needle over and over while they dye your skin with ink -- permanently -- takes some serious commitment. After all tattoos hurt, they look awful if you gain weight, and if you're really unlucky, can leave you with a spelling error forever etched into your neck -- so trust me kids, it's not a decision to be made lightly.

Unless you're Scarlett Johansson. She showed up at the London premiere of her new movie, The Other Boleyn Girl, adorned with this odd little decoration. Is it real? Just temporary? Did she steal it from a 10-year-old girl? Nobody knows.

But the overly-cutesy, ocean scape certainly leaves something to be desired, design-wise. Maybe it's a symbol for whatever pseudo-religious, trendy Hollywood cult thing she's into these days, or maybe it's an indication that Scarlett secretly decorates her bedroom with frilly pink unicorns jumping over rainbows and excessive amounts of Hello Kitty schwag.

Whatever it is, let's hope it washes off.

Gisele's ad campaign for Disney?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is best-known for two things: hair and boobs.

(The model once confessed she never would have made it in the fashion industry were it not for these assets. Touché!)

Nevertheless, the Brazilian bombshell stars in an upcoming advertising campaign for decidedly unsexy company: Disney. The Where the Imagination Saves the Day worldwide campaign features Annie Leibovitz photographs of Gisele dressed as Wendy from Peter Pan.

Gisele isn't the only sexy star to pose for Disney's latest marketing blitz; Scarlett Johansson, David Beckham and Beyonce also signed onto Disney-fied photos.

So lets get this straight: Gisele is Wendy; Scarlett is Cinderella; Becks is Phillipe, and Beyonce is Alice.

Is it just me or does this ad campaign seem appeal to a slighter older Disney demographic?

Scarlett Johansson steals from her mother's closet

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

It pains me to do this because Scarlett Johansson is one of my favorite non-train wreck celebrities. She has a fabulous body, mad style, and is a total knock out in the looks department. But in this photo, she nearly knocked me out with bad fashion choices.

It was like Scarlett rolled out of bed that day and decided "I don't want to be hot anymore." This is the most horrible "casual" outfit I have ever seen. It's weird because I have seen this outfit before ... on a 45-year-old housewife! But when a housewife wears such a disaster, I just shrug my shoulders and assume they gave up on looking nice years ago.

Let's take it from the top.

What you can't see is that Scarlett has a bullring in her nose. Bullrings aren't okay for successful twenty-somethings; they are best suited for angst ridden teenagers trying to be tough. The sunglasses make her look like a total tourist -- gross. The army green tank is ill-fitting and makes this curvy starlet look curvy in all the wrong places. The shorts are the thing that really make me want to vomit; a clashing shade of green "mom shorts" with a leather woven belt. Sheesh, the last time I wore a woven belt was in the 7th grade (I believe it was from the Gap). Don't even get me started on the shoes ... are those slippers?! And to top it all off she puts on a Chanel watch and thinks that pulls it all together. It doesn't.

Scarlett, why? Is this a joke? You are a beautiful young woman so shake what you mama gave you ... just don't shake it in mama's clothes.

ScaJo in her undies

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Have you ever noticed the way that models want to become actresses and actresses want to become models? Following in the footsteps of actress-turned-models Uma Thurman (who was technically a model before becoming an actress) and Jennifer Lopez, screen darling Scarlett Johansson has landed one of the most coveted fashion campaigns: Louis Vuitton. In the spring/summer 2007 print ads the unstoppable ScaJo poses for the French fashion house wearing nothing but her undies.

Kind of makes me wonder how old Woody Allen is reacting to this news. Allen has, on more than one occasion, admitted to finding Johansson "sexually overwhelming" in her clothes. But Scarlett in her unmentionables? Now that might be entering into heart attack-inducing territory for the beloved director.

Last-minute Halloween: Masked Beauty

Filed under: Holiday Style, Accessories, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

I don't know about you, but the idea of thinking up a new, creative, and cute Halloween costume idea every year kind of overwhelms me.

I want to be funny and intelligent with my costume choice, but then my vanity creeps in and says "Umm, yeah...so the pillow padding and face paint is NOT doing anything for those thighs, honey." But I'm afraid to go the way of the once-a-year vixen and end up looking like a Halloween streetwalker.

So what's a girl to do?

Scarlett goes 1960s

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

scarlettjohannsonScarlett Johansson is proving to be quite the fashion chameleon lately. As Anne pointed out earlier in the week, Scarlett was in Venice sporting a rather 1940s style: red lipstick, smooth hair, a classic vamp. For the premiere of The Black Dahlia in L.A. she jumped ahead a few years. Her look here is very early 1960s: the bouffant, the black eyeliner and pale mouth, the little black dress (albeit a very busy LBD). The style reference here is definitely Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Scarlett is gorgeous as always but I think the 1940s glamour girl is a better match for her body type and overall look. I have to wonder if Scarlett is trying to embrace all of the fads of the season with each different premiere. After all, Audrey Hepburn has resurfaced in those vaguely disturbing GAP ads. Perhaps Scarlett hasn't settled into her style for this season yet and is trying out the many different looks around this fall. What's next, Scarlett in pirate chic?

Why the lady is a vamp

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

If you've seen the photographs of Scarlett Johansson from the Venice film festival, you probably noticed the old Hollywood way she carried herself on the red carpet. There was the long-flowing dresses, the smooth, gentle curls, and of course, there was that siren red lipstick. And while the rest of her peer group is tarting it up in dresses that look more like shirts and shoes that appear to have been swiped off the feet of a corner girl on Hollywood Boulevard, Scarlett's look demands that we take her seriously, as a woman and as an actress.

Bravo, ScaJo!

And the designers are already taking notice of this forties revival. This season, Paul Smith, Marni and Brooks Brothers all have pieces that hearken back to the Hepburn days (Audrey and Katharine).

Scarlett [hearts] Reebok

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

With an impressive resume of performances in movies like Lost in Translation to Ghost World, Scarlett Johansson has parlayed her way into the hearts of directors and audiences alike.

Woody Allen [hearts] Scarlett.
Sofia Coppola [hearts] Scarlett.

But who does Scarlett [heart]?

For one, she [hearts] her boyfriend, Josh Hartnett. And now, apparently, she [hearts] Reebok.

Johansson just signed on to a signature line of clothing called "Scarlett [Hearts] RBK", which will be available in stores next spring. What will this fashion convergence mean? According to Reebok, you can expect "fashion-forward, athletic-inspired footwear and apparel signature collection." Why Scarlett? Because "Scarlett embodies the pulse points of our brand-individuality, authenticity and a life lived to the fullest in perpetual motion,"

Jeeze, sounds like Reebok [hearts] Scarlett.
