Who wants to smell like Paulie's Walnuts?

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

Paolo per Uomo by Tony Siricio
Sure, we miss the excitement and drama of the Sopranos, but probably not enough to douse ourselves, or the men we love, in the new cologne Paolo Per Uomo. The name means "Paul for Men" in Italian, which we fear loses a bit in the translation.

Jesse McCartney - Wanted

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Just to be clear, we're not lusting after pop star Jesse McCartney -- we'll leave that to his teen fan base. He'd better be hoping that those fans get a decent allowance, though, because he's about to launch his first fragrance, Wanted.

Housewarming gifts from Sweet Grass Farm - So fab, you might keep them for yourself

Filed under: Haute Home, Fragrance, Skin Care

We've had moving on the brain lately. We're not sure if it's because we live in a college town and are starting to see the students creep back into town, with their cars overstuffed with bedspreads and bookshelves and beer, or because we moved fairly recently and are still feeling the effects (i.e. still can't find anything), but the fact of the matter is, we've been thinking about it.

And when we think about moving, we immediately think of housewarming parties. Trust us, we can turn just about anything into a party!

Sean Combs - I Am King

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Whether you love him or not, Sean (Diddy? Puffy?) Combs knows a thing or two about fashion. He's celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sean Jean and has a ridiculously successful fragrance on the market in Unforgivable for Men. He's now releasing another men's fragrance, called I Am King.

Secret Obsession: The banned Eva Mendes ad (NSFWish)

Filed under: Style in the News, Videos, Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

The following commercial was banned from television and may not be suitable for work:

(Click here to see still shots from the ad campaign)

Eva Mendes seems to be everywhere lately, and almost always naked. We aren't complaining.

The above video (assuming that YouTube hasn't pulled it for boob-related reasons) is an ad for Calvin Klein's latest fragrance for women, Secret Obsession. It was banned from television due to some finding it a bit steamy- and nipply.

Get rolling with tiny scents that travel well

We love perfume, and we love travel sizes almost as much, so travel size perfumes are twice as exciting.

We've written before about how an atomizer can be a lifesaver if you only have a big bottle of scent and still want to smell sweet on vacation.

Even better are mini-sized roller ball bottles. Small enough to tuck inside your carry-on, discrete and non-aerosol, you can dab on a bit more any time you want to freshen up, even in close quarters.

Sephora has been building up their selection of perfumes in this type of applicator, and you now can get several of your favorites. Plus, the smaller size is usually inexpensive enough that you can try out something new without breaking the bank or worrying about wasting money on something that smells...unfortunate on you.

Give your home a Zensual makeover

Whether you've invited just a couple of pals or a whole bunch of people over, whenever you have guests in your home, you want it to make a good impression. That means putting away your dishes and maybe doing a little vacuuming ... but what about the first thing people notice when they come in the door? What about the scent?

A pleasant aroma can immediately set the tone of the evening, so you want to make sure you get it right. We're really digging Zensual. They offer a variety of intoxicating scents in both candle and diffuser form -- candles for when you want that romantic glow, and diffusers for when it's just too hot to deal with a flame.

Styledash Giveaway: Danica "I Am" perfumes

Filed under: Style in the News, Fragrance, Celebrities with Style, Contests & Giveaways

We recently received some samples of this new perfume line, I am, from Danica Aromatics.

As usual, our first reaction was to love the packaging. So clean! Such pretty colors! Then we sprayed and roll on, and fell in love with the fragrances, too. So much that we think you'll enjoy them, so we're doing a giveaway!

Tim McGraw designs men's fragrance

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Let's be clear: the very idea of celebrity "designed" fragrances is weird. Sure, we'll dress like our favorite actor, musician, or celebutant, but who wants to smell like Britney Spears? In any case, men who enjoy emitting an Eau de Michael Jordan, Antonio Banderas, or Derek Jeter now have a new, and equally as unappealing option: Tim McGraw.

Britney Spears is crazy, but still launched a new fragrance yesterday

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Somehow, in the midst of freaking out, losing her kids, and disappearing into the underworld with her paparazzi boyfriend, Britney Spears managed to further her career. No lies. The celebrity disaster launched a new fragrance yesterday -- her second in six months -- called Curious Heart.

Granted, it's not like this is brand new -- the perfume is just a re-packaged version of an older scent (called Curious), released just in time for Valentine's Day.

The question is: do Britney's marketing people really think they'll be able to sell anything with her name on it, especially now that the public is watching the former Mouseketeer embarrass herself over and over again in a seemingly never-ending downward spiral of drugged-up insanity?

Curious indeed.

Courtney Love too stinky to launch personal fragrance

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Courtney Love StinksClose your eyes, and think about what Courtney Love probably smells like. Gross, right?

Fortunately, for every living creature capable of detecting scent, Courtney is aware that we're afraid of her odor. In fact, that's exactly why the former Hole front woman is hesitant to launch her own fragrance. (Plus, her reputation for getting into trouble and being generally obnoxious probably wouldn't help sales any.)

But beware: the idea is under consideration. Apparently, Love has been "reading a lot of books and attending a lot of marketing conferences," as she tries to decide whether or not to unleash Eau Du Stinky Former Rock Star on the general public.

I dread the day this dream of Courtney's becomes a reality.

Smell like Play-Doh, attract the ladies

Dirt CologneI'm normally not a big fan of perfumes or colognes. Generally, the only time I'll notice a person's fragrance is when it's way too strong. However, on the rare occasion that it's done right, a nice scent can be very alluring.

This brings me to the range of colognes by Demeter. These guys stray from the traditional flowers and vanilla scents to bring you some slightly more daring options -- like Play-Doh, Between the Sheets, and Dirt, for instance.

It might seem like a joke, but I'm totally serious. Dirt doesn't smell bad -- in fact, it's so familiar that many people will find it soothing. Plus, it's fun, yet masculine, and certainly different from what all the other guys are wearing.

Woman's perfume is so offensive it leads to a lawsuit

Remember that lady you passed on the street who's perfume was so foul that it made you gag for the next three blocks? Apparently she works in the planning department for the city of Detroit, and her co-workers aren't happy about it.

Either that, or Susan McBride is a big wuss. She's the one filing a lawsuit against the city, saying that -- due to her sensitive schnoz, and the inescapable stench of her co-worker's fragrance -- her work environment is in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

McBride is looking for unspecified damages, and a ban on scents at work.

Normally I'm not a huge fan of petty legislation like this, but I can't stand it when you can smell a person's perfume (or cologne, for that matter) from across the room. It's gross, it's a public offense, and it needs to be stopped. So I saw go Susan! Win that lawsuit, and teach your stinky co-worker a lesson!

Saks gets a scent

Bond No. 9, the company that makes a variety of scents for New York neighborhoods, is now making two scents for one of New York's famous department stores. Fashion Week Daily reports that the first time a specialty store has ever commissioned a perfumery to design scents. Saks Fifth Avenue for Her will use a gardenia eau de parfum with jasmine, vetiver and vanilla. Saks Fifth Avenue for Him includes Sicilian bergamot, cardamom, amber, and cedarwood. Both scents will be at Saks as of September 1 and sell for $125 for 1.7 ounces.
