FiFi Fragrance Gossip - P. Diddy, Dustin Hoffman

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Having lived in New York and L.A., I'm pretty good about not getting star struck when covering events. But there is just something about P. Diddy that's so exciting. I kind of fear him.

So I made sure not to flub my one question to Le Diddy:

StyleList:
"What kind of fragrance do you find sexiest on a woman? Vanilla? Spicy? Floral?"

P. Diddy: "Vanilla...not really into florals a lot. I like tangerine."

And he would know. Tangerine is the first note in his award-winning I Am King fragrance for men. The star later joked in his acceptance speech that the development process for his fragrances gave him a serious headache, and that his staff would bring samples to him at the studio, his home, or even backstage at concerts to make sure he was involved in every step of the process.

Artist Sues Diddy for Copyright Infringement

Filed under: Style in the News

Sean John's first fragrance 'Unforgivable' When Sean "Diddy" Combs' designer fragrance hit stores, we weren't sure exactly what was so 'Unforgivable' about it. Now, we think we get it -- it's the packaging. At least, that's according to glass sculptor Tom Patti, who says that Diddy's designer fragrance comes in a bottle that infringes on two of his trademark sculptures from the early 80s. Apparently, P Diddy's cologne and Patti's copyrighted sculptures are unforgivably similar -- and Patti's seeking unspecified damages.

Tip of the day: How to rock a white suit

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

Alright so you want to wear a white suit. Phhhooo, this is a toughie. White suits often make a man appear like he thinks his ish don't stink. You know the type: majestic yet totally tacky, sexy yet a complete ago maniac, cool yet far from innocent. The bastards. Studs like P.Diddy and David Beckham are prime white suit candidates. And didn't Al Capone and Scarface wear them too? As you see it takes a heck of a man to rock this right.

So if you think you've got the stuff to pull a white suit off here are a few more rules to follow to make sure you're the dapperest don in the room.

Beards of the red carpet: grading the growth

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

The difficult thing about facial hair is maintaining a balance within your personal style -- not letting the beard take control. A beard that's out of control can make you look pretty silly, and you'd do better to shave that sucker off rather than be caught wearing it. I've seen cases wear once sharp-dressing, clean-shaven guys decided to grow a beard, and pretty soon it was flannel and torn t-shirts -- and they never came back.

For better or worse, stars set the tone in the world of men's facial hair -- it's not necessarily a bad thing. It allows us to take cues from them and their stylists, converting them into lessons about our own shaving techniques. When Russell Crowe grows a beard and it looks cool, every dude on the street quits shaving. Then again, sometimes celebrities screw it up -- then we can make fun of them and feel superior.

The grading system for celebrity beards is simple: it consists of 3 variables. First, is there a reasonably good balance between their facial hair and their hairstyle? Second, is the beard in harmony with the rest of the outfit? The third variable is the interpretive factor, i.e. what's the beard doing for them? and how effective is it?

Diddy's diamonds called to court!

Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities with Style

Sean "Diddy" Combs is many things, but tactful is not one of them. Take for instance Diddy's post-Oscar party brawl with a man named with Gerard Rechnitzer. Not very tactful, was it?

The victim sure didn't think so. Rechnitzer filed assault and battery charges against the rapper back in March. So far, he's been unable to produce evidence of the crime, but all of that might change now that Rechnitzer's lawyer has requested photographs of the rings Diddy wore on the night in question.

The motion filed in Los Angeles Superior Court stated Rechnitzer's position: "Needless to say, Combs does not wear simple rings. The rings he wore when he struck [Rechnitzer] are important and critical to the biomechanics of this case."

Are we talking about bling-shaped bruises? Or maybe pear-cut diamond slashes?

All I know is that this is starting to sound a lot like a bad episode of CSI Miami.
