Keira Knightley talks fashion and movies with Vogue

Filed under: Style in the News

The all-important September issue of Vogue has dropped and the majority of it is ads. But after collecting this particular issue over the past couple of years, we already knew that was going to happen.

No, the real surprise is actually the cover girl, Keira Knightley. First, because the last time she was on the cover of Vogue it was one of the fashion glossy's lowest selling issues of that year. And secondly, Keira had just made an appearance on the cover of the mag not too long ago. Plus, Keira, while we for the most part love her films, has always seemed quite boring to us.

Anyways, Vogue managed to get the actress to do a little interview at her cover shoot with Mario Testino while she was trying on Balenciaga. In this clip, she discusses being a femme fatal and playing different roles in her photographs.

The Rachel Zoe Project

Filed under: Style in the News

Last week, Bravo aired a 21-minute preview of Rachel Zoe's, stylist to the stars , new reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project, airing on September 8th.

We tried, you guys. We really, really didn't want to like her, but in the reality show teaser Zoe came across as someone we'd like to go to lunch with, do a little shopping afterwards, and talk lots of shit about people in between. You know, like we do with all of our other super fun girlfriends.

Phoebe Philo at Celine?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Don't call it a comeback, but former Chloe babe, Phoebe Philo, maybe returning to fashion in a big way next year.

According to WWD, LVMH is "this close" to inking a deal with Philo to take over the reigns at Celine. Rumors have been swirling in Paris that an announcement about the new move could come as early as September and Philo's first collection will subsequently be presented in March.

Meanwhile, you should head on over to Gap and pick up as many cute pieces from their limited edition European collection as possible. Why? Well, while Philo has been itching to make her back into the high fashion ring, she's been "secretly" designing for the European Gap. Yeah, all of those Chloe-esque chunky wedges and adorable dresses, that's all Philo, baby.

Gorby is the most unlikely model

What do Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman and Mikhail Gorbachev have in common?

They have all modeled in Louis Vuitton ads.

That's right. The former president of the Soviet Union is starring in a new ad campaign by the pricey purveyors of must have bags. Gorby's ad is part of a campaign shot by Annie Liebovitz that also features, Andrew Agassi and Steffi Graf and Catherine Deneuve. The ads will appear in the ad-heavy September fashion magazines.

TuneStyle: Sparklehorse

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Whatever Style, Celebrities with Style

So why should we be excited about the onset of September?

The onset of cooler temps? The opportunity to put away all our summer whites until Memorial Day 2007? Well, I suppose.

But more than anything else, we should embrace September as the month that Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain, the new album by Sparklehorse, is released.

Faux rock group Sparklehorse is a man named Mark Linkous who lives in Bremo Bluff, Virginia. Like Stevie Wonder, Linkous conceives, produces and performs every facet of his albums, song by song and instrument by instrument.

His breakout album It's A Wonderful Life of 2001, is nothing shy of luminous. Linkous's guest artists on that album include TuneStyle favorites P.J. Harvey and Tom Waits. In the interim since the release of the album, Sparklehorse's released a few tracks for the David Lynch cult movie favorite Laurel Canyon .

In short, Sparklehorse is the greatest, most stylish faux band you've never heard of. But that can change come September.
