Britney's Recession Shopping Spree

Filed under: Style in the News

Stars on a budget! Britney shops at the Gap in London. Photo: WENN.com

Even stars like Britney Spears are becoming price-conscious!

During a stop in London on her "Circus" tour, Daily Mail UK reports that the blonde (and toned) singer did some moderately priced damage at the Gap.

Clad in a coral cotton tank and brown velour pants, Spears looked relaxed as she emerged carrying two full bags from the retailer.

JustJared reports that the 27-year-old performer also dashed into Boots -- "The" drugstore in London -- for some zit cream. She popped into University Outfitters, a cheap and trendy UK retailer, as well.

Despite the heftier exchange rate (currently £1 pound is equal to $1.6 dollars), it looks like Britney is spending her dollars wisely by shopping at affordable stores.

But from the looks of the photo, we hope her purchases include a bra from GapBody!

Retailers Unite for "Fashion's Night Out" - Stiletto Stimulus Plan?

September 10, right as New York Fashion Week will be getting underway, retailers in major cities worldwide will join forces for "Fashion's Night Out," as reported by WWD. This is an initiative that, according to Bloomberg, will remind people that "in spite of the tough times that we have been and will continue to go through, there is a future and fashion is part of it."

Bloomberg made the "Fashion's Night Out" announcement on Wednesday while flanked by more than two dozen of fashion's finest, including Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Oscar de la Renta, just to name a few. Wang added to Bloomberg's statement, saying, "From the high-powered woman in Oscar de la Renta to the postgrad buying his first suit, people can find self-expression, confidence and a style all their own in fashion."

Around 100 retailers in the United States have already signed on with the intent to put the fun back in shopping, boost sales and make stores more than just a place to buy new things -- instead, they'll become "more entertaining theaters of commerce."

Kelly Osbourne Engaged For The Attention? Say It Ain't So!

It looks like Kelly Osbourne's engagement to British model Luke Worrall is causing some drama within her famously fractious family.

A shopper at the Les Habitudes boutique on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles reports that Osbourne "and three of her gays" came in around 5pm on Wednesday.

"Kelly said she told her mom [Sharon] that she wasn't inviting her sister [Aimee] to the wedding," the spy-witness says. "She said Aimee is being a 'beast' and treating her 'like shit.' She said Aimee told her, 'you're only getting married for the attention.'"

Wear It Today, Return It Tomorrow

dressHow annoying is it to pay hundreds of dollars for a dress that you'll probably only wear once? Or worse, not having the money to buy that DVF gown you've been drooling over? Apparently, Wear Today Gone Tomorrow founder Madeline Passarelli heard your cries and has answered your prayers. "The thrill of new clothing wears off after the first or second wear ... and it's just too expensive and wasteful to have a closet full of clothing you don't wear." Thus Wear Today Gone Tomorrow was born, allowing women to borrow designer clothing at 90% off of the retail value for that special event and then allowing them to return it the next day -- no nagging sales people required.

Mystery shopping isn't as cut and dry as it seems. There is a lot that goes into the process. Before you even set foot in a store, you undergo an application evaluation. This was surprising because I thought that anyone would be able to shop, but that just isn't the truth. Fortunately, my application was approved and I became a mystery shopper.
