You know the saying: "Promises were meant to be broken." Well, looks like Carla Bruni does too.

After marrying French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Bruni promised not to play live in concert while the First Lady of France.

But now, it appears she's overturning her no-live-performances rule. According to Telegraph UK, she's just announced that she'll be doing a duet with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame at New York City's Radio City Music Hall for Nelson Mandela's 91st birthday on July 18. (A beyond valid reason to go back on your word!)

Musician Katy Perry isn't singing a very sweet tune these days. In fact, she's told Australian fashion designer Katie Perry to cease and desist using her same name (different spelling) to promote her loungewear, reports MTV.

According to the article, Katie Perry has been designing and selling clothing under her name for the past two years, and after opening a storefront, filed paperwork to trademark her name for the store and her line.

But surprise! Shortly after filing, she received a request to stop using her own name -- the name she was given at birth -- from an Australian law firm representing singer Katy Perry. If Katie doesn't back down, a lawsuit will follow, and a judge will decide which Perry prevails.

This potential trademark lawsuit might rival the one that stylist Rachel Zoe threatened Christopher Suave with earlier this year...

Celine Dion has an addiction: Can you guess what it is?

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrities with Style

Celine Dion has a confession to make: She is an addict.

She loves to shop, and, as a result, now owns "between two and three thousand pairs of shoes," and is addicted to shoe shopping. Think about that for a second -- that was her quote. She has so many shoes that she doesn't even know which thousand she's closest to!

Amy Winehouse is coming out with a clothing and makeup line

Yes, people do want to imitate Amy Winehouse's style. Believe it or not, when she's not all cracked out she does manage to pull off a very unique look. There's not many people in this world that can rock a beehive like Amy!

So Miss Winehouse is going to tap into that interest in her personal style. Like every other celebrity under the sun, Amy is coming out with her very own clothing and makeup line.

Later on this week she has plans to meet with meet with fashion and cosmetic experts. Already set in stone is that heavy liquid eyeliner will be the signature product for the makeup line. Also in the works are hairspray, head scarves and perfume.

One source in the fashion industry in London says, "She has become a fashion icon despite not always looking too fresh."

I would say not looking "too fresh" is a little bit of an understatement. But, let's give credit where credit is due -- she's really been cleaning up her act lately. If she cleans up her look a little bit too more people might be willing to give ballet flats, thick eyeliner and beehives a chance.

What do you think?

Would you buy clothing and makeup from Amy Winehouse?

Worst Oscar styles EVER: Bjork, 2001

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

You know, I almost didn't include Bjork's infamous Swan Dress from the 2001 Academy Awards on this list of worst Oscar styles ever, and I'm sure you want to know why. It's not because I think wearing swans around our necks is the new hot thing -- however, we are talking about Bjork (have you listened to her music? She's not exactly one to follow the crowd), and to be honest, I'd be totally disappointed if she showed up in a chic, sophisticated black gown.

Plus, she donated the dress to be auctioned off to benefit Oxfam, so I feel like that somewhat exonerates her from the fashion crime. That being said, it was still a swan, not a real dress. It makes me curious to know what she'll wear every time she hits the red carpet, though!

Worst Oscar styles EVER: Celine Dion, 1999

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

In case you didn't know, Celine Dion didn't start out in life looking the way she does. As her career took off, her looks improved dramatically ... which is probably why this outfit choice for the 1999 Academy Awards baffles me so. I mean, I totally understand wanting to take a risk, but clothing needs to be worn facing the front. Kris Kross figured this out by the time they hit puberty, so why didn't someone jump in and tell poor Celine?

The thing is, it's not only that the jacket looks like it's on backwards -- it looks like it's on backwards and isn't made to be worn that way. It just doesn't seem to fit properly. Wouldn't you love to see her try to lift her arms in that?

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman launch clothing line

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Not content with just creating a little person inside her womb, Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban have decided to launch a clothing line called Hank Evie, named for the nicknames they call each other.

Yeah, I have no idea where those nicknames came from, either.

Urban already trademarked the name in the United States and Australia. Currently, only concert t-shirts are being sold under the label, but the couple intends to add pajamas, boxers, and belt buckles to the collection. It is this blogger's assumption that the clothing for the women will be wrinkle-free and the clothing for the men will have unfortunately placed, straw colored streaks.

We might not be seeing Hank Evie at Fashion Week anytime soon, but that might be okay. The duo has confirmed that they will be welcoming an even more highly-anticipated creation before too long, though no word has been given on when.
