Brad Pitt's hour-long beauty routine

Filed under: Skin Care, Celebrities with Style

It's a pretty well-accepted fact that Brad Pitt is prettier than most guys, regardless of their age. Hell, he's prettier than a good percentage of women we know! And while we're not sure we buy this story in its entirety (the National Enquirer isn't exactly the most reliable source), we think there's probably a good bit of truth in it.

Apparently, Brad Pitt spends an hour every night applying various cleansers, toners, creams, and balms to his face, including his $1400 a jar Creme de la Mer anti-aging moisturizer. And, once a week, he applies an olive oil-based cream on his hands and feet to keep his skin soft and supple. He even wears gloves and socks to bed to make sure he gets the full moisturizing benefits.

Rodin - Your skin's secret weapon

Skeptics, take note: After the first application of this mix of 11 essential oils (jasmine, sweet almond, jojoba) your complexion will have a visible, healthy glow. Really. We've tried and tested it ourselves.

Apply a few drops in lieu of your regular moisturizer (or under it when your skin is really drab). The oil is all natural, non-greasy, and leaves skin supple and hydrated. Dab a drop or two on your elbows, hands and feet before bed and your rough, dry skin will be banished. Since it's pricey ($130 for 1oz; buy it here), mix it in with your regular face and body moisturizers to make it last and last.

vedaMAMA - Not just for the mommy crowd

A lot of the really, really good skincare companies put a lot of focus on products for new moms, kids, and babies, and for good reason -- this group needs high quality products. However, the rest of us like to be pampered, too, and vedaMAMA is taking good care of us. Really, really good care.

VedaMAMA is a part of vedaPURE, a collection of noncosmetic skincare products that uses "ancient ayuvedic principals of balance and health, herbal remedies for calming and soothing and the highest standards of excellence in modern care for ... chic sassy moms and hip 5th Avenue fashionistas." Get soft, sweet lips with Naturally Upper Canada lip butter

Filed under: Cosmetics, Skin Care, Product Reviews

We're not ashamed to admit it -- we have a slight lip balm addiction. We have tubes and tubs in all our purses, and we can't go to sleep at night without one last fix.

By now, we've gotten picky -- we like products that go on smoothly without being gloppy, and while a bit of flavor is a bonus, we don't want it to be too strong. Keeping all these things in mind, we've found a new love -- Naturally Upper Canada's Cranberry Moro Orange Lip Butter.

The beauty industry's new muse

Celebrities may not be clocking the major fashion advertisements like they use to (Hello, supermodels!), but they're making up for it with beauty campaigns.

A couple of weeks ago, Revlon announced Jennifer Connelly would be its new brand ambassador. Basically, this means she'll be supplied with an enviable amount of mascara and nail polish for the next few years. Oh yeah, she gets a big fat paycheck for doing so, too.

And just a few days ago, Condé Nast announced that British soul songstress, Duffy, would be the face of an exclusive new Nivea ad campaign. The ads will only run in Fashion Rocks, a super-glossy 16 page supplement that explores the relationship between fashion and music.

Duffy will also be performing alongside the likes of Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey in the Fashion Rocks special on CBS that airs on September 9th. Meanwhile, if you haven't picked-up Duffy's debut album Rockberry, then you must get on it. The ten track disc is full of beautiful love songs that are not the least bit cheesy and are made even better because of Duffy raspy voice.

We all like the idea of using natural ingredients, and those of us who garden probably feel even more strongly about it.
