Posh's pampering bed-time routine

Filed under: Skin Care, Celebrities with Style

(Does the beauty routine work? Click the photo to see for yourself)

We just told you about Brad Pitt's hour-long night-time beauty routine, and it sounds like he and Victoria Beckham might have something in common. Like Brad, Posh has some interesting bedtime beauty habits.

She says, "I put really thick foot lotion on with socks before I go to sleep. I also use thick hand cream with gloves at the same time." Hot hubby David isn't exactly on board with this routine, however, as Victoria says, "David thinks I'm loony because I get into bed with gloves and socks on."

Pooghe Laundry - sexy underwear with a silver secret

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Men

Here's an idea: luxurious base-layer clothing (translation: underwear) that is super comfortable and uses nanotechnology to prevent odor.

Don't go running to the patent office. Pooghe Laundry already did it, and they somehow even made it sexy, too!

Pooghe uses a high tech method called "SmartSilver" that puts silver ions actually in the fabric. When the ions are released, they kill the bacteria from perspiration and voila, no odor.

The line includes men's and women's underwear, long and short sleeve tees, camisoles, socks, tank tops, leggings and compression cold weather apparel, all made from soft Supima cotton. The founder, Steve Monte, manufactures everything in the US, ensuring that all production is sweatshop-free and Fair Trade.

All good things. But really, we all want to see what it looks like on. In the gallery, scantily clad models who we can be sure smell as good as they look.

The most unnecessary socks ever, brought to you by Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson socksSometimes pointless accessories are attractive enough to justify their uselessness, but these ballet style lacy lace-up socks from Betsey Johnson border on baffling. First of all, they look like they would fall apart at first touch. Secondly, what kind of shoes would work with this? Even the model legs in the sample photos can't make the socks look good, leaving the lacy edges sloppily spilled over the edges of the pump.

We can kind of dig what look they were trying to achieve, though, but we've seen it done better with a couple of cheap ribbons strategically wrapped up and around a pump-clad foot. It's a simple and cheap way to get the same ballet-inspired look without looking too ridiculous. Plus, it's another way to get a look from an otherwise average-looking heel.

Socks+sandals: Alexander McQueen pairs the unthinkable

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Shoes

(Click on the photo for more shocking and ridiculous runway fashion)

Our world is officially rocked. If men are pulling off pantyhose (or mantyhose) these days, then it's hard to really fault someone for pairing sock with sandals (if you can call them sandals) -- especially when it actually looks good. Not wear it out in public good, mind you, but good in that 'wow that doesn't even really look offensive' kind of way. Actually, we think they look like some sort of couture bowling shoes.

Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities with Style

Although we're loving summer at the moment, our fashion-forward minds are already getting excited about cool weather and hot fall trends. After all, who doesn't love shopping now for items you can't wear for three more months?

It goes without saying that some of the styles we saw in the Sex and the City movie should come with a "Don't try this at home" warning, and when we first saw these over the knee argyle socks (available for $14 at PatriciaField.com) on Carrie, we thought they were a prime example. But something made us take another look. And another. And, all of a sudden, we kind of love them.

Tender toes tout Pure Care diabetic relief socks

If you have tender toes, then you know that working out can mean more than just aching muscles. The wrong socks can rub your feet raw with rough material or sharp seams.

Many, many times we've been really cooking on the elliptical machine, thinking, "We're finally going to fit into that sample size dress!" only to cut the workout short because of painful blisters from our socks.

Connect with the world, literally, by wearing velcro

Filed under: Style in the News, Vintage and Retro

Forget the baby bjorn, or the sling. Who needs carriers, strollers, or baby backpacks? With the new invention of velcro clothing, now you can just stick your baby to you and go. Look, ma, no hands!

The designers of all velcro outfits have one thing in mind -- human connection. They are imagining cities full of people walking around wearing velcro, bumping into each other, getting stuck together and starting up a conversation. The brand is called Takkiainen, which is developed by a company called Com-pa-ny, "Takkiainen is a jacket for lonely or bored people. It is designed to help the wearer to get in contact with others. Since we brush against each other every day as we move around in the city, we can use our clothes as a medium for meeting people and communicating with them."

Com-pa-ny, based out of Finland, coincidentally makes many other amazing products such as silicon socks (for outdoor use, no shoes), the safety skirt (giving you absolutely no chance of flashing an accidental up-skirt), jeans with built in gloves, jeans with a tail, " to sit on, to lean on, to balance, to wrap around you," a skirt with four purses attached, a rocking bear, a blanket you could hibernate in, literally, a beard made out of wool, in case you're looking to get a cleaner Adrien Grenier look, a hood and backpack all combined into one, and my favorite of them all, shoes with the kiddy shoes attached right on top for easy father/daughter dancing. The products are insane, exciting and innovative. You have to browse through the gallery to see what I'm talking about, everything that Com-pa-ny makes is out of this world! Check out the products and then tell me what crazy invention is your favorite!

Socks to replace rocks as pets

pet socks at shop intuition Please help me understand these socks because I am awfully confused. I was drawn to these socks because Shop Intuition dubbed them as "the next best thing." That claim made me curious -- curious enough to click through to the "pet socks" page. What I found were $13 dollar socks with silly names breeds like "cuddles" and "cosmo." How, uh, cute ...

Have we gone back in time and replaced the oh-so-pointless pet rock with a pet sock? Why on earth would I need a pet sock? ShopIntuition.com seems to think I need a pet sock because there is no grooming or feeding required. They also claim that "pet" socks are a "must have" for me and my gal pals.

My gal pals would totally disown me but for those of you that haven't run out of the room screaming, pet socks are fuzzy, 98% polyester, 2% spandex and can be purchased online.

At least there's no leash required.

Think Pink: Socks at Wal-mart

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Style for a Cause

pick stuff socks for breast cancerI'm not a big Wal-mart shopper. In fact, I'm not a Wal-mart shopper at all, but if you are lucky enough to have one of the supermega discount stores in your neighborhood, you can pick up a pack of five pairs of these socks.

The thick cotton socks, by Pink Stuff garments, come in various pink and white designs: one heart and ribbon design, one pink ribbon and stripe design, one "find a cure" and "breast cancer" message design, one "fight, happiness, family, pink, joy, find a cure." Pink Stuff will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items to cancer research and patient care.

The pack of five is $11.95, and also comes in an ankle-sock style.

Style icon: Dr. J

So maybe his real name is Julius Winfield Erving II, but if you were the most stylish basketball player of the 1970s, wouldn't you go by the name "Dr. J"?

Sure, he played high-intensity, fast-paced, amazing basketball. Sure, he managed to dunk from the foul line. And sure, he managed to sink a lay-up from behind the backboard during the 1980 NBA Finals.

But what I do I like about the good doctor? His amazing style, and two things in particular. First of all, the Afro -- the man went huge. Second, the socks (a.k.a. "high-highs") -- even in his choice of hosiery, Dr. J reached for the stars.

Bold, beautiful socks

The corporate world is a dark and somber place.

No, I am not talking about the cutthroat ethics of some blue-collared businessmen, but rather, I am referring to their dark and dreary business attire. Please! How many grey suits, white shirts, and black socks must we be subjected to observe?

Luckily, Vivek Nagrani, founder of Ovadafut Hosiery, is spearheading the campaign to add color to the corporate world. His weapon of choice: socks.

Everyone recognizes the warmth factor associated with socks, but how many people acknowledge their fashion potential? Well, Nagrani does. His designs are a refreshing alternative to the dull, bland, and conservative wardrobe essential.

Now, lawyers and CEOs everywhere can showcase their personal taste by wearing chartreuse, fuchsia, or periwinkle hosiery.

Move over, power ties! Whimsical socks are taking over!
