While Spanx needs no introduction to the female population, what about the mastermind behind the booty-shaping brand? Enter Sara Blakely, a former fax and copy machine salesperson/stand-up comedian, who founded the company nine years ago. The 38-year-old entrepreneur was at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship on Thursday to show off her new Haute Contour collection -- a fancier lingerie-inspired line that makes the idea of wearing a girdle go down a little bit easier.

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Clothing

Michael Buckner is a fashion and celebrity photographer who travels around the world taking pictures on the red carpet. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hottest entertainment industry events.

America's Next Top Model Jaslene Gonzalez and Spanx, the "body shaping" undergarments designed to give the wearer a slim and shapely appearance, don't really belong in the same sentence. She has a body most women would kill for, and most men would kill to be with. But that wouldn't stop her from coming by the Spanx lounge at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City.

And just in time for the Recession, Spanx has introduced Assets, which are sold at Target on the cheap!. For just $20 Assets introduces the Sensational Shaper. These hose slim the midriff, tummy, rear, hips, and thighs and are the perfect paring for spring's high-waisted skirts. Who says you can't look a little thinner for les than a gym membership?

By now, we know that when Oprah says something is good, it's great. Once again she hit the nail on the head when she and Heidi Klum picked Yummie Tummie to be one of Oprah's Top Picks.

Yummie Tummie is shapewear, but it's incredibly wearable. Unlike Spanx, which are vitally necessary but let's admit it, painful, Yummie Tummie tops are comfortable. At the same time, they smooth and control muffin top in a way that we hadn't realized was possible.

Bordeaux dress with built in smoother

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses

Flipping through InStyle magazine at the salon, we were struck by this pretty dress by Bordeaux.

Yes, the color is great, and the embellished neckline still has a few minutes left on the fashionable timer. But it was what you can't see that caught my eye.

Must-haves for your lingerie drawer

As far as lingerie goes, your specific "needs" will be dependent upon your lifestyle. And we don't mean just your nightlife. If you wear a a lot of skirts and pants that show your pantylines, you need no-show panties. If your pants tend to be of the low-rise variety, you need some undies that will stay low, too. And, if you're an athlete, you need undergarments that stay in place during strenuous activity (you know, the kind of strenuous activity that requires you to keep your clothes on).

According to Divine Caroline, there are five things every woman needs to have in her lingerie drawer. Check out the gallery to see what they are, and be sure to let us know if you'd add anything to the list!

How to wear white pants

Summertime is right around the corner. For those of us who still follow the old rules, that means White Season!

White shoes, white bags, white dresses, and most dangerously, white pants. So easy to ruin forever with blueberry pie, so hard to find a flattering fit.

Here are a few of simple rules to take the fear and anxiety out of wearing these most unforgiving garments:

1. Be skinny-skinny-skinny. Where black is slimming, white ahem creates a visual expansion. Particularly of one's posterior. If you're not super slim, you may want to back away from the idea right now.

Have slips been replaced by Spanx?

How many of you own a slip? We're not talking about a slip dress -- we mean a real, actual slip that is worn under a dress, and, theoretically, not seen at all. Now, if you own one, do you wear it?

This question was asked over at Friday Style, and the answers were interesting. Not surprisingly, there seems to be a generation gap -- apparently some grandmothers were simply aghast that their little ones weren't wearing slips with their dresses this Easter, while the younger set was amazed that anyone still wore slips.

Do you still wear a slip under your dress?

Just fake it! How to look skinny

Just fake it: How to look thin
You can never be too rich or too thin right? Almost everyone wants to slim down but no one wants to put all of that pesky effort into it. Well you aren't going to get thin by just sitting around. You have to step away from the plate and hit the gym to get that body of your dreams but in the mean time ... just fake it.

These aren't tips and tricks like wearing all black or putting on wrap dress (we all know about those by now), these are actual products that claim to make you look thinner.

Hello! Skinny Jeans Barely Bootcut: Usually skinny jeans end up making people look fat but these jean's claim to fame is that they make people look slimmer. Check it out, they are cut to trim your thighs, tighten your tummy, lift your booty, and elongate your legs.

Spanx Control Top Fishnet Pantyhose Hosiery: Spanx have quickly become a 'can't live without' product for women everywhere. Nicole Richie is using them to hide her post-prego figure, Tyra has been using them to conceal her weight gain, and Oprah has been preaching about them for years. I have worn Spanx and let me tell you something ... they work!

Fit Flop: These sandals not only claim to make your legs look thinner and fitter but they are said to actually make them thinner. Flip flops that work on your fitness, not sure that I buy into it but it doesn't hurt to try now does it?
