Coco Rocha speaks out against using anorexic models

Filed under: Style in the News

Several models have spoken out against the deadly industry standard of using girls for runway shows that are dangerously thin -- among them are ladies like Ali Michael and Natalia Vodianova. But, after they spoke out, critics accused them of saying something only because their careers were on the brink of extinction. This is not so in Coco Rocha's case.

Laptop cases go camo

There's a picture of the new laptop case from Maharishi on this page, but you probably can't see it. Hell, I'm not even sure where it is. I hope I don't type over it.

See what I'm doing? I'm having a bit of fun, because the case is camo. That's camouflage for the abbreviation impaired.

Maharishi puts out some quality products and this one is no different. Of course it looks cool with its military inspired print and style, but it provides a nice layer of protection and some storage space as well. After all, what's the point of having a laptop computer, especially a sweet Mac like the one pictured, if you never take it anywhere? And if you are going out in public you have got to look good. We understand each other, right?

The bag fits a 15" laptop and is available for $70 at Standard.

Spain to redo their sizing for women's clothes

Filed under: Style for a Cause

One of my biggest pet peeves is the variation in women's sizing from store to store. It's hard to just walk right in and buy a pair of jeans if I have to try on every pair in the size 4 to 10 range to see whether that particular brand runs a. tiny b. a little small c. just right d. too big e. holy crap, tone down the vanity sizing!

But, the entire country of Spain is working to change all that, so I suppose I'll just have to move there if I want to make my shopping experiences easier. Health authorities there did a laser mapping of 10,000 different women's bodies from the ages of 12-70. They found that most women fit into 1 of 3 categories: "cylinder (similar measurements for bust, waist and hips), diábolo (or hourglass), and bell (pear-shaped)."

The new method for sizing will also include bust, waist and hip measurements and possibly height as well.

Hallelujah! I can't wait for the Spaniards to develop and perfect this new system and then send it on over to the United States! I've got nothing but love for the country of Spain, seeing as how it's already given us paella and Enrique Iglesias. If they give us standard sizing for women, well, then you can look for me parading up and down the streets with a red and yellow flag screaming, "Viva Espana!"
