When we heard about Self-Defense Stilettos, we have to admit that we got really excited. We pictured shoes with a James Bond-esque component, like a button to shoot pepper spray out of the heel or a hidden compartment in the platform for a stun gun or something.

Though we love to scout the runways for trends on our own, we were totally inspired by Neiman Marcus' "Fall's Magnificent Seven" ad campaigns that have been flooding our inbox all week.

High heels are sexy -- no doubt. However, if you're not walking in them properly, the sexiness of the shoe won't matter -- everyone will be watching you and betting on how long it will take before you wipe out. Or, they'll be laughing at how awkward, clumsy, and out of place you look.

For those times when the world needs to know that you'll exchange sex for money, you can't go wrong with a pair of shockingly-tall, black leather stilettos. But what most hookers don't realize is that you don't have to forgo fitness while you're pacing poorly-lit street corners and schlepping up stair cases to the untidy apartments of lonely pervs.

In fact, you don't even need a separate stair-counter for your working-girl workouts -- all thanks to these new heels from Costume National.

We all know that Mariah Carey is one of the biggest divas out there. But, a recent list of her demands has come out and it's even more extreme than you could imagine. Shockingly enough, Mariah said, "I don't think I'm demanding enough." Read on to see if you agree with her or not.

Today the Wall Street Journal is running the inspirational story of Meghan Cleary and her brave efforts to keep more than 100 shoes organized in a typical shoebox NYC apartment.

We love this woman as much as we love the original Shoe Betch. She so gets it. But of course she does. Meghan makes her living writing and speaking about shoes. She is a "shoe expert." Job envy alert!

Carlos Santana has a line of women's shoes? How is it that I've never heard of this? As I was watching this commercial for Macy's, I kept wondering how they managed to come up with a commercial that featured a conversation between Mariah Carey and Carlos Santana. Before I realized that he had his own line of shoes to hock, it just made no sense at all -- why would Mariah Carey want to ask Carlos what stilettos sound like? (they sound like Carlos wailing, btw)

After watching this commercial, I'm pretty sure that Macy's has haphazardly discovered a next great marketing scheme, and it would work for just about any product. No, I'm not talking about celebrity endorsements -- but managing to squeeze Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump all into one 30-second spot is pretty impressive. What I mean is having famous guitar players interpret fashion items musically. Just imagine Slash doing YSL's Spring lineup.

I was pretty disappointed when I went to the Carlos by Carlos website and there weren't any sound-bytes where Carlos had interpreted each shoe on electric guitar. Before I buy shoes from Carlos Santana, I want to know what they sound like.

Personally, if I spent four grand on a pair of shoes and, upon receiving them, they were missing a part, I'd be ticked. But that's just practical, boring me. Victoria Beckham, however, actually did this on purpose -- pictured here are the $3600 Antonio Berardi heel-less shoes that now call her overcrowded (and terrifying) closet home.

I mean, isn't this dangerous? The girl is seriously top-heavy to begin with (not even counting her boobs -- her head is like a lollipop!), so who's brilliant idea was it to put her in shoes that don't allow her to put weight on her heels?

Supposedly, the look is meant to be "dainty," like you're constantly walking on your toes. Well, yeah -- that's because you are! Unfortch, Posh doesn't seem to be the only one reeled in by this bad idea. Uma Thurman and Gwyneth Paltrow are also guilty.



Oh, and just in case you're thinking, "They're not that bad -- at least it's something new," I have something to share -- it's not even a new idea! Heel-less shoes have been around for a while, and multiple designers have given the look a shot. There's probably a reason you didn't know that though ... nobody actually wears them. And that's the way it should stay.

The rest of the shoe is cute, though -- she could always glue a pretzel stick (that of course she won't eat) to the back of the shoe if she decides that heel-less heels aren't the way to go, after all.

Kristopher Dukes loves these shoes, and so do I. Guys, forget about giving some lame bouquet of roses for Valentine's Day -- if she even bothers to put them in water, they'll still die within a few days. But Prada? Prada is always a gift worth giving.

Wish you were getting more action in the bedroom? Maybe it's time to change your footwear. Apparently women who wear high heels have better sex -- and not just because you legs look hot in stilettos.

You might think this is information I overheard at a sports bar, but in fact the conclusion is based on research -- by scientists! I kid you not, someone actually paid to do a study comparing high heels and sex. And in that study, lead by Dr Maria Cerruto of the University of Verona, found that wearing "moderately high heeled shoes" makes for better bedroom antics.

The reason, says Dr Cerruto, is that wearing heels "directly works the pleasure muscles linked to orgasm." So ladies, if you need a little umph between the sheets, try a pair of heels, and give your pelvic muscles a workout.

I'm sure getting married is really stressful. All the planning, the family tensions, the commitment (it's no wonder my girlfriend and I are still waiting to tie the knot). But you'd hope that on their wedding night -- of all nights -- couples would be able to look past their differences and love one another.

Not attack each other with pointy shoes.

Sadly, that's the story of Teresa Brown and Mark Allerton, a Scottish couple that got into a fight on their big day -- which ended when Brown attacked her groom with a stiletto, he stumbled, head bleeding, down to the front desk, and had his bride arrested. She spent the rest of the weekend in jail, and he spent the rest of the weekend wondering just what in the hell he'd got himself into.

Now she's out, and the couple are still together (barely) -- so maybe they'll get over this little speed bump and live happily ever after (though I doubt it).

Unfortunately police chose not to disclose who designed the assailant's weapon of choice, but we'll keep you posted.
