Beyoncé Rocks Fierce Heels in New 'Ego' Video

Beyoncé just released her video for 'Ego' and it bears a striking resemblance to "Single Ladies." Once again, she's flanked by two look-alike backup dancers and the video was shot in black and white for a retro feel. Another similarity -- Ms. Knowles (aka "Sasha Fierce") looks hot!

To perfectly complement a shimmery, Forties-inspired romper, sexy fishnets and Marilyn Monroe-worthy gloves, the singer stays in step with Stuart Weitzman's black satin "Peepers" pump.

The fact that her footwear of choice involves a sculpted, crystal-encrusted heel should come as no surprise; we are talking about Beyoncé, after all.

And, even if your plans don't include going on tour anytime soon, you can still get your hands (gloves optional) on a pair of these peep-toe slingbacks. Visit Zappos for the satin stunner ($575) in a variety of colors.

Heels for Dudes - Yea or Nay?

Punk Rocker Justin Tranter's custom bootsA lot of trends have been trying to work their way across the gender divide these days, with varying degrees of success. For cross gender fashion successes, you need only to look at the makeup counter to see that manscara, guyliner, and foundations are all being received at some level ... and we've heard nothing but rave reviews about mantyhose. Still, are men ever going to warm up to Stuart Weitzman's custom made man heels?

Stuart Weitzman defends flat shoes because 'cool' is as exciting as 'sexy'

While reading the inflght magazine on a Delta flight recently we were pleasantly surprised by this response from iconic stiletto designer Stuart Weitzman to the question "but will flats ever be sexy?":
No, they're not supposed to be sexy . . . but you don't always have to be the sexiest you can be. I think if a woman tries to do that all the time, you start to not notice it anymore. Flat shoes are not sexy, but they're cool, and it's just as exciting to be cool as it is to be sexy.
It's sage style advice that's not limited to shoes, and we just love him for it. It's wonderful when a designer doesn't have his head permanently in the fantastical clouds created by the world of fashion. He also admits that runway shows and the press (ahem) exaggerate the popularity of heels - it turns out that flats outsell heels 5-to-1. We're not surprised by this at all - a cursory glance at our closet proves it.

Do you agree with Stuart Weitzman - are flats cool?

Shoes of the day - Stuart Weitzman 'Max" peep toe pump

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

There's something so deliciously naughty about peep toe heels - add patent leather (in red!) and the sexiness quotient of these shoes just goes through the roof! That is why we'd probably never wear these Stuart Weitzman heels with a miniskirt or even tight jeans - it's just too obvious. But adding these to a more demure outfit? Now you're talking!

Shoes of the Day: Stuart Weitzman Swak

stuart weitzman swak flatsI'm just not there yet. Flats are all over the place, and I realize that they are that amazing and rare combination of fashionable and functional, but I'm just not at a point where I can give up 4-5" heels yet, unless I'm working out (and I don't work out).

However, I am getting close, and when I do get there, Stuart Weitzman's Swak are probably the pair I'll try. They're my favorite color in shoes, neutral, and feature metallic hardware both on the rounded-toe and the heel. Maybe I like them just because they're not totally flat -- they have a 1" heel (which, to me, is essentially flat anyway).

Available from Zappos for $260.

Stuart Weitzman branches out into bags

We've covered Stuart Wetizman's shoes before, now the designer has moved into the handbag arena. It's big news since Weitzman has previously only created a couple of limited edition bags and has been dedicatedly shoe-obsessed. The new handbag division features bags that are made in Spain and feature details such as metallic and hand-painted detailing. The first offering is this Cargo Tote, which is 15" wide by 10" tall and has three inside pockets and an inside zip pocket. More styles will hit the stores in January but you can reserve this one for $495 on the Stuart Weitzman website now. I'll reserve judgment until I see the rest of the line, but so far it doesn't make my heart go pitter-pat.

Flip-flops for every day of the week

wood sole/heel from miaIt's the height of summer, which means you're probably wearing flip flops (I just can't get myself to say "thongs" unless I'm talking about underwear) every day. But honey, those black and blue Reefs from your trip to Baja three summers ago aren't going to cut it. Here are seven Styledash picks for flip-flops through the week:

Sunday - It's a backyard BBQ with 50 of your closest friends, and you've got on daisy dukes, a halter top, and barely-retro wooden heeled thongs

strappy stuart weitzman thong sandalMonday - Off to work at your California casual office that's clean under your slacks, and still has a not-so-flipfloppy feel with a strap around the heel.

urban outfitters straw fkip flopTuesday - Play hooky and go to the beach in flat, simple straw flipflops you can throw in a matching straw beach tote, and won't feel bad about throwing away at the end of the summer when they're all torn up (2 for $12!)

dr. scholl's heeled thong sandalWednesday - Big meeting with the big boss means a linen pantsuit and a simple, sophisticated sandal that's still comfortable so you're not wincing up there during the presentation.

kate spade floral flip flopThursday - After the gym, rubber soled flip flops that are pretty enough to throw on and run over to Pinkberry for some from frozen yogurt

nine west ankle lace up thong sandalFriday - Gotta look like a sex kitten for a hot date with that MySpace guy. Lace up around ankles says "hot."

baby phat heeled thong sandalSaturday - Girls' night out on the town? That's phat and phlirty, baby.

Clogs will never be sexy to me - never!

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

clogsI don't care what you say, a clog is a clog. Even the word "clog" screams utterly frumpy librarian to me (no offense to the librarians out there, I just had a really bad one in grade school).

Clogs are what cute eight year old Dutch children with rosy cheeks wear. Clogs are the giant wooden shoes that fly through the air at Disneyland and make you throw up. Clogs are those ridiculous neon Caltrans highway worker orange rubber things that Mario Batali plods through the streets of Roma in. Clogs, I'm sorry, will never be sexy to me.

So I have no idea why show designers think that adding height to the heel and few flashy accents will make them any better. Stuart Weitzman has clogs for the fall season for over $200.

Now it's just an expensive pair of clogs.
