The Day Damaris and Joshua had a Dance-Off

Filed under: Style in the News

So. We've all heard of the walk-off, right? This is when two people, who believe they have Naomi Campbell- or Gisele-like catwalk struts, go head-to-head against each other to see who, in fact, is the real diva with the equally mean walk. Well, this is not a walk-off.

Vogue's Annual Best Dressed List, Slightly Confusing

Filed under: Style in the News

It's no secret that we have a major crush on editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and her fashion bible known to all as American Vogue. That said, we've been left scratching our head pretty much each and every time we take home a issue of the magazine from the grocery store each month. And the January '09 issue was no exception.

The Life & Times of Coco Rocha

Filed under: Style in the News

Coco Rocha has come a long way since she found herself Irish gigging down the Jean Paul Gaultier runway a couple of seasons ago. In a time in fashion where fresh faced models are just as easily forgotten as what they've been eating, Coco has managed to navigate this picky industry and transform herself into a very hot commodity.

Just ask Anna Wintour. The editor-in-chief has put the Canadian in practically every issue of Vogue since Coco's first appearance back in 2006. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Style.com, Vogue's online home, has just created a web series that will follow Coco as she tries to survive her cross country trek for Fashion Week.

In the first part, watch as Coco plays with a casting director and explains how one can walk away with nice designer pieces after the show. Watch and learn.

Veruschka: A face of a decade

Filed under: Style in the News

Before there was Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangalista, Veruschka reigned supreme in the world of modeling. The 60s-era German icon begin her career at the Ford Modeling Agency and became a muse for famed fashion photographers like Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. Oh, yeah. She dated some guy named Warren Beatty. You may have heard of him.

Anyways, the legend has resurfaced to hawk her new hand bound fashion tome aptly entitled Veruschka, which features tons of glossy images of the supermodel and interviews done by David Willis. Recently, Style.com caught with Veruschka to discuss her new project and the circumstances that surrounded her most iconic images. In this clip, see the supermodel transform into a a sexy femme fatal, a yoga master, and yeah, a black president.

Happy Monday, guys.

Chris Benz and Elettra Wiedermann: BFF, SFL, and all those other acronyms we scribbled on our notebooks as kids

As the popular 80s hip hip group Whodini once said: "Friends, how many of us have them?"

Well, we're not sure how many cool or riddiculous friends Elettra Wiedermann and Chris Benz have between them, but we do know the two are very, very fond of each other.

Before Elettra packs up all of her things in New York to study biomedicine at The London School of Economics and Political Science this fall, Style.com managed to snag a interview with her and designer Chris Benz.

In ths clip, watch as the buddies giggle, talk about how awesome the other one and discuss a little bit of fashion in between. Enjoy.

Opening Ceremony's Olympic activities still rage on

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

While the most of us have been glued to the TV for the last couple of weeks watching some the world's best athletes compete at the Beijing Olympics, there's another group of people competing in a very fierce retail competition stateside.

In honor of the summer Olympics, Opening Ceremony released a limited-edition run of metallic gold and silver Air Max 1 and the Nike LunaRacer. They also threw a really big party, too, and even had jewelry designer Philip Crangi host a ping pong match in their store.

Luckily, the good people at Style.com went and documented all of the madness for those who are more into Micheal Phelps instead of Marc Jacobs right now. In this clip, watch as a slew of guests breakdown their funky outfits, amongst other things.

Stylish summer reads

Being the voracious readers that we are, we're always checking out reading lists (and no, we aren't in Oprah's book club, even though she does have some good picks now and again). That being said, we were quite thrilled with Style.com's summer reading list -- the list itself is based on fashion, although the books aren't actually about fashion.

(Because you know, if it has to do with fashion at all, it's work for us, so we totally give ourselves a pass to take any of these out to the pool and read for a couple of hours. We're working.)

Behind the Scenes: CFDA fashion photo shoot

Filed under: Style in the News

Unfortunately, you had to be either a super fabulous socialite or a semi-famous movie star to enter the 2008 CFDA Awards ceremony that took place last week. So as you can imagine, our invitations never made it in the mail.

Anyways, the good people at Style.com just added this video to their site that gives us a regular folk a small glimpse at what some of the attendees got to experience in full on Monday night.

The CFDA's commemorative programs are just as important as the dinner table settings. And this year, Diane Von Furstenberg tapped Brazilian supermodel Raquel Zimmerman to exclusively star in the Mikael Janson lensed mini book.

In this clip, watch as Zimmerman transforms from a rugby player to high fashion punk princess.

The Zootsuit Connection

Filed under: Style in the News

Another bright summer day. And another must-watch Style.com video.

Today's mini feature stars the former showgirl and burlesque queen turned vintage shopper Ruth Lewis and the owners of the Las Vegas store Valentino's Zootsuit Connection, where the seventy-one year old retro glamor babe stocks ups on hippie maxi dresses, polka dot tops, and sexy sequined ensembles.

Carrie and Mr.Big takeover Vogue

It has finally arrived. Well, sort of. The hotly-anticipated Sex and the City feature film hits theaters on May 30th.

And Vogue has tapped the flick's stars, Sara Jessica Parker (Carrie) and Chis North (Mr.Big), to front their June issue. The accompanying editorial with the two is called "Rebel Romance," and features the on-screen lovers in various locations getting intimate -- while wearing the chicest outfits, of course.

Style.com just added this video of the shoot, which was photographed by Annie Lebowitz over a period of three days back in March. There is also a sneak peak of a scene from the movie that depicts Carrie striking a pose for a fictional age issue of Vogue.

We. Can.Not. Wait!
