Michelle Obama and Daughter Sasha in Matching Outfits

Filed under: Style in the News

The entire Obama family was out at the United We Serve event at Fort McNair in Washington DC yesterday morning (June 25).

Barack looked on in admiration as Michelle Obama -- wearing a Lanvin blouse (that she previously wore in the White House garden), yellow cardigan, teal capris and Puma sneakers -- opened up the do-good event by speaking to those gathered to participate in the cause.

Malia and Sasha were there, too -- Sasha in a nearly identical outfit to mom's! She wore a printed yellow tee and teal capris with sneakers.

The color-coordinated mother-daugther duo, along with Malia and President Obama helped fill the 15,000 backpacks with books, snacks and toys for children of military servicemen and women. It doesn't get any better than stylish, personal service for those in need.

Kate Gosselin's Extreme Transformation

Kate Gosselin found a place in America's heart as the mom of eight (sextuplets and twins) on TLC's reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

We watched her go from soccer mom to media darling -- with a trim figure and sassy 'do to boot.

Now, she'll be facing her biggest transformation yet -- becoming a single mom.

As reported by People magazine, the reality show parents have filed for divorce. The couple also made the big announcement on last night's episode.

This will undoubtedly be a tough time for all involved (and there are many involved), but if there's one thing that won't get lost in the shuffle, it's Kate's style.

Check out just how far she's come in the style evolution (below).

Kate Gosselins Style Evolution

Kate Gosselin shows off her extremely pregnant body in this undated family photo. She leapt into stardom after giving birth to sextuplets in May, 2004.

Back in 2004, Kate Gosselin was just a mom. A mom who had twins and had just given birth to sextuplets, sure, but otherwise, just a regular person. With very regular style.

She's hardly recognizable as the woman we've been seeing on the tabloid covers lately -- the dark hair (and lack of flashbulbs going off all around her) really changes her look.

Four years later, Kate had undergone a tummy tuck and gotten a major makeover. Hey, if you were going to be in the spotlight nonstop, wouldn't you?

    Amy Sussman, Getty Images

Just last year, she and Jon were the picture of suburban happiness, with preppy clothes and a house full of adorable children. And a hit TV show, of course.

    TLC

In fact, in October 2008, the couple renewed their wedding vows in a fabulous and romantic ceremony.

However, 2009 seems to be the beginning of the end of their relationship. But not Kate's style! She's one hot mama, and now that she's single, watch out!

Kate's learned that, just because the show's cameras are off, that doesn't mean the paparazzi will give her a pass. She keeps casual and cool with comfy clothes that fit and flatter. And you know what? Ball caps, when not worn all the time, are a fun way to hide a bad hair day.

Rihanna is no stranger to big, bold fashion, but the 21-year-old pop star took it down several notches for her court appearance in Los Angeles yesterday (June 22).

The singer looked positively poised and polished despite attending a hearing to determine if ex-boyfriend Chris Brown should stand trial and face jail time for allegedly attacking her.

She opted for a chic, sophisticated and super stylish ensemble: A classic black dress, Proenza Schouler black python PS1 bag, vintage Van Cleef & Arpels yellow gold and diamond bracelet watch and vintage Buccelatti 18 karat yellow gold, ruby and diamond earrings, along with pearls on her neck. (The watch runs $8,500 and the earrings, $13,000; available at Platt Boutique Jewelry.)

Repeat Fashion Offender: Michelle Obama

    THE ARGYLE SWEATER
Michelle Obama donned similar asymmetrical cardigans by Junya Watanabe - the pink version for a "Take Your Child to Work" Day event on April 23, 2009, and the blue version during her G20 trip to London. Her first pick by a non-US-based designer, the fashionably daring sweater was critically acclaimed by MO style-watchers.

    THE BOW SHIRT
The First Lady first debuted this white bow blouse by Moschino on April 2nd in London. She then recycled it for a "Take Your Child to Work" Day event on April 23, 2009.

    THE INAUGURAL CARDIGAN
We imagine most First Lady's would wear their Inauguration Day ensemble once, then lay it to rest. Not our Michelle. The pale yellow Nina Ricci cardigan she dressed up with a diamond brooch for her husband's swearing in ceremony has become a wardrobe staple - most recently seen on St. Patrick's Day, paired with cropped gray trousers.

    THE GREEN SHOES
Who knew that emerald pumps could get so much play? Michelle first donned these colorful J.Crew clickers on Inauguration Day, and wore them again during the G20 Summit in London.

    THE BLACK BELT
A master of the belt-over-cardigan look, this black studded belt by Azzedine Alaia is arguably The First Lady's favorite accessory. She's been photographed in it many times - here, twice during her recent trip to Europe.

It's become habit for the media and fashion followers alike to fault high-profile celebrities for doing the absolutely unthinkable - wearing the same thing more than once!

Don't they know? They're supposed to stick to the wear-once rule! They have endless money, multiple stylists and access to all the top designers; their wardrobes should be disposable. Who do they think they are committing such a fashion faux pas?

But somehow, when Michelle Obama wears things on multiple occasions, it's eco-friendly, practical, down to earth. After all, she's just like you and me.

Lloyd promises that it's "a fresh concept ... a double makeover;" one for the "closet case" and another for their actual closet. He also dishes countless tips on how you can "find a style that works" among the clothing you already have and not spend a dime doing it. How much fun is that?

rachel zoeEveryone's favorite fashionista Rachel Zoe is back on the scene, this time causing a stir with her new clothing line, tentatively titled, "I Die." Filed under: Hair Care, Style Lies, Hair Cut and Style

A Leave-In Conditioner That Really Works!

Filed under: Hair Care, Daily Obsession
