In you're in the habit of dressing like a flying rodent, working out of a creepy underground lair to save the people of Gotham from oddball super-villains, and/or hiring old English guys named Alfred to cook you dinner,
these are the shoes for you!
Actually,
Eelko Moorer, the Dutch-born inventor who created the new bat-style boots, isn't some comic book fanatic, but rather an everyday guy who thought it'd be funny to hang upside during his subway rides. "I like the idea of doing something that gives a person a sense of relief and can cheer up lives," says Moorer, who's recently been trying out the new boots on London's Underground system.
Apparently "Some people were surprised, others liked it and others were appalled."
"Others," like the managers of the London Underground, who say wearing the boots is "a dangerous and stupid act that could result in serious injury to not only the individual concerned but also other passengers."
Yeah, whatever. I say: "live a little."
Eelko only intended to make one pair of bat boots (presumably for personal use only) but he's more than willing to make more if anyone is interested -- so don't hesitate to
email him, or give him a call at 0044 (0)20 898 527 48.
