Flatter Your Figure - Looking hot while you sweat at the gym

Filed under: Clothing, Flatter Your Figure

First of all, let us just say that if you're going to the gym and working up a sweat, you have a right to look as bad as you want. If you run farther or lift better wearing your old basketball shorts, that's fine -- we are big believers in hitting the gym to work out, not to win a fashion contest.

However, maybe you're meeting an old friend there (or hoping to meet that cute boy in your spinning class), and you want to look your best. Or, perhaps you just like to look good no matter what you're doing -- there's nothing wrong with that, either, and we can help!

Check out our gallery for a few recent trends in fitnesswear along with a few tips for flattering your figure. Whether you've already achieved your ideal physique or you're hitting the gym for a reason (or 20 "reasons," if you know what we mean), we've got something to help you out!

Ewan McGregor's new fragrance smells manly - is that a good thing?

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Somewhere in between impersonating Mad Max and helping to feed the children of the world, the intrepid Ewan McGregor managed to find time to team up with fragrance giant Davidoff to create a new cologne that takes you into "uncharted fragrance territory." It's called Adventure, and it's apparently for those who like to smell like a sweaty biker reclining in front of a mountainous landscape. Does that mean it smells like mountain air+exhaust+biker funk?

Pinkapalooza: Victoria's Secret parties with Behati (and Fall Out Boy)

Filed under: Handbags, Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Cosmetics, Fragrance, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style

So last Thursday we found ourselves standing in blistering 80ish degree sunshine on the Santa Monica Pier. We had to wait in the corner between the coeds of USC and UCLA while they shouted "spirit" at each other. It was very peppy and just a bit intimidating.

Why were we there with rivals and cheerleaders? For Pinkapalooza, of course! Duh.

The first annual (or whenever) Pinkapalooza was thrown by the good people at Victoria's Secret Pink to introduce their new Pink Collegiate Collection (still no University of Arizona?!) to the masses. Fall Out Boy performed. It was what we in the biz call "a major event."

VS Pink: Victoria's Secret goes to college

Filed under: Handbags, Haute Home, Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Vintage and Retro, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses, Fragrance, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Style for a Cause, Get the Look

We know, it's still summer, but before long school will be starting and Victoria's Secret wants you to be ready, hence the Pink Collegiate Collection.

Victoria's Secret describes PINK as "a fully articulated lifestyle collection for young women" and "includes 9 different items, including fleece pants, hoodies, panties, tees, and totes... available in approximately 375 stores, many of which are in close proximity to the universities in the program." Thanks to a partnership with The Collegiate Licensing Company there are 33 schools featured thus far and more (hello, Arizona?) will be added shortly.

Tip of the day: No sweat!

Summer bummer: The eyeshadow slide

One of the biggest summer make-up challenges we face is watching our eyeshadow melt right off our eyelid. We leave the house with the perfect bronze-y gold smoky eye, and by the time we get where we're going, there's a pound of make-up settled in the crease and instead of looking light and shimmery, our eyelids just look oily.

Blood, sweat, and t-shirts

Filed under: Style in the News

We've all seen Chris Hansen expose perverts, thieves, and con men on Dateline. And since Tyra Banks' addictive model show hit the air, we all can say we know a little something about the modeling industry i.e., never go on America's Next Top Model if you want to have a chance at a legitimate career.

Give-N-Go boxers, not as bad as it sounds

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Men

Here at Styledash, we're kind of obsessed with finding all the latest trends in underwear fashion and technology. Our latest submission to the wide world of undergarments is called the men's Give-N-Go boxers by ExOfficio. The name is a little foreboding, and they do contain a small percentage of spandex, but the idea behind these babies doesn't have anything to do with giving or going -- or even sculpting you butt or love handles.

The Give-N-Go boxer is a water wicking, quick drying, anti-odor pair of undies for guys on the move. The name is just an unfortunately chosen sports reference that somehow made it past the focus groups. So, if you're into hiking, cycling, basketball or nearly anything that involves sweating -- which is nearly everything during the summer -- these are your ticket to staying dry (along with not wetting yourself).

Ban T-Shirts with a message

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Men

No, I don't want to ban t-shirts with a message, unless it is something I disagree with. Why would I want to read that? Ban T-Shirts is the name of the company and their shirts have some very strong messages, most of which I wouldn't dream of banning.

The shirts are designed with progressive messages that concern the issues of the day: the environment, democracy, freedom, war and peace (not Tolstoy). Most of the designs are printed on organic cotton American Apparel shirts and none are made in sweatshops, although I can't guarantee that sweat was not present at some time during the process.

The company is proud of its righteous attitude and claims to be deconstructing society, shirt by shirt. They also make no apologies about not providing all sides on the issues. They feel that the right is wrong and only make shirts with messages that they believe in. That's called not selling out. Besides, who the hell wants to wear shirts that are anti-environment, freedom and peace? Don't answer that. Ban it.

Botox solves pit problems?

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Summertime and silk can only lead to one thing: armpit sweat stains. It's just the nature of the beast, and unless you want to talk around with tissues shoved into the arm holes of your dress, you're going to inevitably end up with the tell-tale signs of perspiration.

But there is another option. You could get a Botox shot in your arm pit. In case you have ever wondered how celebrities manage to make it down the Red Carpet without sweating through their expensive silk gowns, chances are good that they have gone the Botox route. According to celebrity stylist, Inge Fontenye, Botox paralyzes glands to temporarily stop armpit sweating.
Sounds a little extreme to me, but I guess you can't knock results. Wonder what the FDA thinks of this one...
