So. This is what we know about good 'ole Taylor Swift: she's young, she sings country music, we've seen her on VH1's top 20 countdown a couple of times, and the year after we graduated from high school she came and performed in our auditorium.

The Annual CMT Awards brought out a surprising variety of celebrities for their show this year. And as usual, it seems most country singers did not consult their stylist before hitting up the red carpet. There some hits, and a whole lot of misses. In light of the 2008 Country Music Award Nominations being announced today (Kenny Chesney leads the pack with 11, way to go, cowboy!), I thought we could take a look back on some of the fashion faux pas' committed in the past.

Before we start, I want to say just one thing -- country music fans, don't kill me! I am one of your own kind! I love country music. I just don't love the clothes that the country singers wear to award shows. Just because you sing country, doesn't mean you have to dress like a country bumpkin.

Today, when the nominations were announced, I got all excited. Watching the show is always a blast. I enjoy hearing all the great voices singing live, and seeing what ridiculous outfit Shania Twain will show up in. For some reason everyone at the CMA's dresses like they're going to high school prom.

Have a look back with me and see what I'm talking about. Beautiful Jewel had some serious boob wonkage. Dwight Yokam came dressed as a stylish school shooter who stole a purple velvet scarf from his mom's closet and then later changed into a coat he borrowed from Elvis. Gretchen Wilson came disguised as Lindsay Lohan while Kid Rock (why was he even there?) decided not to shower before the event. Even the normally delightful Carrie Underwood wore a dress, that while not totally horrendous, was not quite totally flattering either.
