JCP Vs The Breakfast Club

Filed under: Style in the News, Videos

JCPenny has done one of two things for John Hughes fans, either they've brought back a great memory and provided a chuckle or they've killed a piece of their youth. Results may vary.

The new ad for JCP features a bunch of teens recreating some of the more memorable scenes from Hughes' classic movie The Breakfast Club. We LOVE The Breakfast Club so we feel very strongly that we should hate this commercial, but as embarrassing as it is for us to admit- we don't.

Dress like a Jonas Brother

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Kids and Babies

When we were done watching Disney's Camp Rock (again!)* we couldn't help but think how totally awesome it would be if the Jonas Brothers had their own line of clothing. Then we read that The Sun had an interview with the band and that one of them, we think it was Curly, or maybe Moe, said that they were thinking about doing just that! This is where we type OMG! OMG! OMG! like over and over again.

We. Could. Just. Die. A freaking Jonas Brothers clothing line? Did we say OMG yet?

Okay, so maybe we're spreading it a bit thick. As far as teenage idols go they seem like a better option than most, and they do have a safe sense of style which we're sure parents appreciate. One thing is for sure, it could be worse.

Does this mean that Libby Lu will have to add a boy's section?

*Yes, we really watched it. It's no High School Musical, but it's cute.

Style on the streets: Helsinki

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Clothing, Vintage and Retro

Hel-looksOne of my favorite style sites to browse is Hel-Looks, which follows the street fashion of Finland's capital, Helsinki. The age range is huge (although mainly between 15 and 25) and the styles are daring and bold. The best way I can explain the style of Helsinki's trendy citizens is that it's a cross between gothic Lolita, Japanese street punk, and college art students. And although some are disturbingly stuck in the 80s, others demonstrate a great ability to fashionably layer and accessorize. Plus, this site has driven me to an obsession with scarves (which is really saying something 'cause I live in Florida).
