Back to school: Hot options that'll pass dress code

Shopping for back to school can be difficult. On one hand, you want outfits that you'll be able to wear throughout much of the year. On the other hand, the tiny little shorts and mini skirts you've been sporting all summer won't pass dress code, and it's way too hot to wear jeans just yet, so what's a fashionista to do?

We've got some sassy, fashionable options for you, so don't sweat. You can stay cool in the high temperatures without sacrificing style or risking detention! Check out the gallery to see some of the pieces we love as well as recommendations on how to wear them!

Your Pumas can tell you you're hot

heat sensitive puma
I almost never wear sneakers. I'm not a sneaker fashion girl so just about the only time I ever wear anything on my feet that lace up is when I go running, and we all know how often that is.

However, I was intrigued by the Puma Basket CC, where "CC" stands for "Color Change." The Rifle Green-Tender Shoots-White shoes are made of a heat-sensitive synthetic leather that changes color in different temperatures and environments. Granted, they don't go from black and green to oh, say pure white and screaming royal blue when the mercury starts rising, but they do change when you touch them (heat of your hand). A video over on YouTube shows you (turn your sound off - there's music).

The Puma Basket CC is $75.
