Summer Wedding Season: Your real job as maid of honor

Let's get one thing straight first: being the "maid or matron of honor" is not so much an honor as an unpaid job. To be even more blunt, it's a very expensive favor you are doing for someone who will almost certainly fail to appreciate your efforts. But here's the twist: she will most certainly judge you and find you failing at some point in the process.

Holiday entertaining is all about the details... details like breakfast toast printed with a pattern that looks like fine china. It's true, nobody needs this toast pan from the Table Manners collection by Minale Maeda, but this is the kind of thing the family will be talking about for years. (My fantasy: "Remember last year, when Brigitte made that fancy toast? That was so awesome." )

Okay, pretty toast may not make quite that big of an impression, but this it's still a really nice touch and extremely easy. If you can't impress them with something fancy for breakfast, you can at least have your toast be gorgeous.
