Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Kate Moss popularized heroine chic and now Amy Winehouse is bringing it back in the most literal sense possible -- she's a drug addict. But, for some people, that's just a minor detail. Welsh designer, Julian MacDonald, has announced that Amy will wear the top gown in his collection.

America's Next Top Model is a flop

America's Next Top Model - Cycle 1
We are on -- what? the seventh or is it the eighth? -- season of America's Next Top Model? Out of all of those seasons, I have yet to see any "top models" come out of the show. Apparently I am not the only one who feels this way. In this week's Answer Bitch section on eOnline, a reader asks the question about the "Tyra curse" and why her models never seem to get any work after the show.

Answer Bitch went to his big time fashion industry insiders and got this juicy nugget for us:

The fashion industry doesn't take the show seriously. Clients are finicky about choosing their own faces. People like to select their own girls, and to be handed a girl that someone else has deemed fabulous -- that equation doesn't really work out."

Makes total sense. That's like me telling Anna Wintour to take my fashion advice instead of using her own instincts. Sure I have some great advice but Anna doesn't want to hear that crap.

The Devil might wear Prada on TV

Filed under: Style in the News

the devil wears pradaWith fashion the focus of so many TV shows these days, both reality TV like America's Next Top Model and Project Runway and sit-coms like Ugly Betty, it seems like a good idea to take advantage and join right in.

And while shows about fashion aren't necessarily the most viewed in the bigger picture in TV-land, Fox Broadcasting announced it is currently developing Lauren Weisberger's novel and now movie, The Devil Wears Prada into a half-hour comedy. If all goes well, it will debut next year. The reason for moving toward shows about the fashion world? Advertisers realize that the target audience segment, women aged 18-49, handle the pursestrings in the family, and are willing to pay top dollar for advertising spots.

So that's all well and good. The bigger question is...who will they get to play the characters?
