Flingz panties to go, for those unexpected moments

flingz - panties to goYou know those times when you suddenly need a fresh pair of panties? Preferably a thong? We have a solution for you: Flingwear.

We'll skip over the litany of reasons why a gal might be happy to find a spare thong in her bag, and move right along to the solution, super cool individually packaged Flingz thongs.

Tiny and discreet, you can keep a pair handy in your bag. The plastic bag keeps them clean, and if they happen to fall out...well, loose panties in your bag just give a bad message. A nice, sealed package is better.

The panties themselves are great: tag-free, so no scratchy labels to bug your backside, available in nude and black, and they're made of 95% cotton so they breathe. Each pair only costs $7.50.

And even though they are marketed as a "be discretely prepared" item, Flingz are regular panties, so you can wash and wear again and again. Just remember to keep the packaging if you plan to re-stashing them in your bag!

Wanna win a free trip to Iceland? Threadless design contest

Filed under: Stores We Love, Style in the News

There are times in each of our lives when we wish we had the superpower of amazing t-shirt design skills (admit it) -- this is one of those times. Threadless T-shirts, the guys who pretty much host an endless stream of t-shirt design contests, are calling for submissions for a contest in which the prize is: airfare to Iceland, 2 nights in a hotel, $2,000, Dakine baggage, and bunch of other awesome stuff including an original piece of music composed by Calexico that's inspired by your design.

No joke, the band Calexico will actually be using your design as inspiration, so it better not suck. We like their music, but they must really need money to be raffled off as part of this prize package. The theme of the contest is travel, but what kind of travel and when -- that's for you to decide. Here's one idea to get the creative juices flowing: horseback travel in space. Of course, both horse and rider would need spacesuits. If that wins you the contest, we expect at least a courtesy email.

Good luck, go spend some money in Iceland. Looks like they need it worse than we do.

Why aren't you wearing this? Patched Bag

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Must Haves

We've been traveling a lot this month, so our eye is continually drawn to big bags that can easily hold all of our stuff as we slough through gracefully make our way through airport after airport. But, of course, we don't just want a big ol' canvas tote -- we only carry handbags that add to our overall look, not ones that take us down a notch. If there's more to carry than will fit in the bag, well ... isn't that what boys are for?

Anyway, this Patched Bag, available at Spiegel for $59, isn't quite as big as some we've had our eye on, but it definitely has the style factor. And, we like that it has multiple pockets on the inside, so we can stash (and easily find) our passport, gum, lip gloss, money, and whatever other smallish goodies we can't leave home without.

It also comes in red, which we're not opposed to, but for some reason we're just loving this rich brown. Wouldn't you get loads of use from it?

Traveling in style - High-end fashion luggage

We recently got a matching set of luggage. It's great -- it's red and easy to pick out when it comes out on the conveyor. Not the most stylish thing in the world, but it came with an enormous cosmetics case, so we're happy.

However, we started looking around at some of the seriously stylish luggage utilized by the rich and famous, and now we have bag envy. This Forbes article makes a really good point -- if you're carrying around expensive designer clothes, shouldn't you keep those clothes in a suitcase befitting them?

With Labor Day approaching, many of us will be taking advantage of the three-day weekend by getting out of town. And one necessity of a weekend trip that ranks right up there with a toothbrush is a sturdy, stylish weekend bag. (That means you, gentlemen.)

After all, when the alternative is emptying out your stinky, sweaty gym duffel and stuffing it full of wrinkled clothes, investing in some new luggage doesn't sound half bad. Check out our roundup of some of the best men's travel bags out there and save yourself from disorganization--or from paying $50 to check your over-sized, half-empty suitcase.

Pacifica solid perfume

We love travel perfumes. Mini-spritzers, roll on tubes, or most reliable of all, the small tin of solid perfume. You'd think, with airline restrictions being what they are (draconian) everyone would be doing a solid perfume, but we've had a hard time finding good choices. Until now!

Last Thursday at dinner with the girls our friend Liza pulled out a tiny pot of Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia. The other six of us demanded to be allowed to try it. By dessert our combined pulse points had the place enveloped in a luxurious cloud of flower scent, almost overpowering the tart scent of our garlic fries. Almost.

The very next day we went on a quest to get our very own tin of organic coconut and soy wax solid perfume. We were delighted to discover that, in addition to their yummy candles, you can buy the perfumes on Pacifica's website. We snagged Tuscan Blood Orange and Waikiki Pikake which we plan to layer together to make our new signature travel scent.

Available in nine different flavors, for just $8.95 each, it's easy and affordable to mix and match to find your perfect combination.

Get rolling with tiny scents that travel well

We love perfume, and we love travel sizes almost as much, so travel size perfumes are twice as exciting.

We've written before about how an atomizer can be a lifesaver if you only have a big bottle of scent and still want to smell sweet on vacation.

Even better are mini-sized roller ball bottles. Small enough to tuck inside your carry-on, discrete and non-aerosol, you can dab on a bit more any time you want to freshen up, even in close quarters.

Sephora has been building up their selection of perfumes in this type of applicator, and you now can get several of your favorites. Plus, the smaller size is usually inexpensive enough that you can try out something new without breaking the bank or worrying about wasting money on something that smells...unfortunate on you.
