Kim Kardashian is turning out to be a good samaritan.

The curvy brunette bombshell is currently touring the diamond mines of South Africa and Botswana with her football player boyfriend Reggie Bush and her sister Khloe on behalf of Russell Simmons' Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF).

Started in 2007, DEF is a non-profit organization that raises money to support education programs in African countries where diamonds are mined.

Well, virtually. Zee has joined the world of Twitter and plans to relay all the best fashion moments in 140 words or less. (Fashionable types can't be bothered to read that much anyway -- can they?)

As he explains on elle.com, "Ok all, here it is. Like it or not, you can now read all my silly, significant, salacious or just downright superb style quips by following me personally on TWITTER. Think of it as all 'Style A to Zee,' all the time."

Lindsay Lohan - Reinvention of a Smart Girl

Lindsay Lohan, secret genius? Photo: Getty Images

When Paris Hilton was taking over the world, dancing from the table-tops of New York nightclubs to the world's TV screens through her hit reality show "The Simple Life," even sensible media outlets occasionally debated the issue of whether this seeming air-head was, in fact, an undercover genius. No such question was ever asked of Lindsay Lohan.

Now, I'm not so sure.

This week, Lindsay Lohan's Twitter page became the most compelling thing on the Internet. Named after her self-tanner (Sevin Nyne) and leggings (6126) ranges, http://twitter.com/sevinnyne6126 has become a unique combination of diary, dialog and self-generated gossip column possible only in the Twitter age.

An Open Rant to Kim Kardashian - REALLY?!

Filed under: Cosmetics, Skin Care, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Beauty Tips

Dear Kim,

This is picture is SO wrong on SO many levels.

First of all, you're a celebrity. Or at least you're trying to be. Sure, even Hollywood's shining stars may get a sunburn once in awhile, but they would never, ever, in a million years, publicize it to millions of people on Twitter (well, maybe Ashton Kutcher, but he's goofy and endearing, and you're not). If Scarlett Johansson toasted her tushie, do you think she'd post it for the world to see? Um, no.

Secondly, DO YOU KNOW HOW DAMAGING SUNBURNS ARE TO YOUR SKIN? Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US. Every year there are more than one million cases diagnosed - that's more than the COMBINED incidences of breast, lung, prostate and colon cancers. Oh, and 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Don't believe me? Then check out The Skin Cancer Foundation, where all these fun facts came from.

And even if the term "cancer scare" doesn't resonate with you, I can certainly speak to you in a language that will. How about "You'll look 45 by the time you're 30?". Like a dried up raisin in a pile of plump Hollywood flesh. Gotcha, didn't I?

W-41 Unveils Semi-Creepy Barcode Tees - Orwellian Fashions

Filed under: Style in the News

W-41 t-shirts featuring ShotCode technologyThere's something unbecoming about wearing a shirt with your Myspace url plastered across it out on the town. But for those of us who are too shy to strike up a meandering barroom conversation the old fashion way, now there's a way to get virtually acquainted with that intriguing stranger. A Dutch apparel company called W-41 has come up with a new form of high tech t-shirt that -- when decoded by the right camera phone app -- can send people you right to your LinkedIn profile. Weird.

Mulewear: Shirts for the internet savvy and you

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Men

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Hello, and welcome to Web 2.0, the t-shirt collection. We're not really sure what to say about these geek chic shirts, other than we like them, because the company that produces them isn't a t-shirt company; they're a design team that has a store. Or perhaps they're a store that has a design team. It's all so confusing.

Twitter is the next big thing

Facebook was the new Myspace, and now Twitter is the new Facebook. Are you following me? Probably not, but that's OK. Let me just put it this way. Twitter is going to be the next big thing.

It's a keep up, or get out of the way kind of world, and Twitter is what you should be keeping up with now. It's like Facebook, but in real time. You can update your status and set Twitter to send out phone text messages to tell all your friends what you're doing.

I been noticing that more and more people on blogs are using Twitter to communicate with their readers. I've seen Twitter everywhere lately! Since Styledash is always ahead of the game, we even used it during Fashion Week last year.

The phenomenon has been especially popular with people traveling, who might not have time to sit down and write an email to all their friends and family who want to know how he or she is doing. With Twitter, the traveler is able to send out his whereabouts by telling everybody at once, "I'm in Bali, getting a $5.00 massage. Life is good!" When you change your status, those who follow you on the website will receive text messages, if they are set up to do so, with your updates.

Twitter hasn't quite broken into the mainstream yet, but I have a feeling it will soon. The website is continuing to explode in popularity. Time Magazine said, "Twitter is on its way to becoming the next killer app," and I believe them. It's trendy to be on Twitter right now!

Do you Twitter?

We're going to be all a'Twitter through LA Fashion Week

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, LA Fashion Week, Fashion Week

runway from spring 2007 shows
We're going to do our best to write about LA Fashion Week here on Styledash for the next week or so, with the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios starting on Sunday. Now we're going to let you know in advance that our "coverage" is going to be slightly different from the other sources. For designer bios, full galleries of every piece that stomps down the runway, celebrity interviews, and even "expert" commentary, you can find those everywhere. We'll be attending, and while we'll certainly focusing on the fashion, we're a little more interested in the stuff that you won't see all glossy and flossy on magazine sites. That's the good. We want the bad and the ugly because really now, isn't that more fun?

We'll also be doing a little experiement with Twitter, a new thing that lets people "microblog" what they are doing right now via SMS, IM, email, and the web. We set up a Styledash profile and I'll have my phone with me, so if you want to follow along, check for updates at www.twitter.com/styledash. Add us as a friend and you can get the live updates, you know, if you're obsessive like that.

Oh, and if you happen to be at any of the events or shows and see a little Asian girl running around text-messaging every five minutes, that's probably me. Come say hi!
