What qualities would your perfect bra have? Of course, it would have to provide proper support and be comfortable. And, it would need convertible straps so it can be worn with just about anything. It needs to cut low enough for you to wear your deepest neckline, but still provide a seamless appearance under a clingy t-shirt. It should lift and separate, but not so much that it makes your breasts look fake. Oh, and it should be a little sexy, too.

Are we forgetting anything? Because it turns out that building the perfect bra is a lot more scientific than we had realized.

Well, the pre-red carpet coverage on E! (yes, I started tuning in at 4:30 -- what?!?) included a short fashion show from Victoria's Secret, and one of the items they really pushed as a must-have red carpet undergarment was the Very Sexy 100-way Strapless Convertible Bra.

On the television, I have to admit, it looks like a bit of a miracle -- they showed a couple of different necklines and types of straps, and the bra was able to accommodate them all. However, they didn't exactly get to 100 different styles, so I'm not sure how accurate the name is. Also, none of the models were particularly well-endowed, so I'd be very curious to see how the bra worked for a more busty broad who actually needed the support.

I then checked out some reviews and was pretty disappointed to see that many women who tried the bra on were less than thrilled it. It seems to be a good concept but perhaps needs a little work. At any rate, if you have a gown (red carpet or otherwise) with a neckline that seems to make wearing a bra impossible, you might want to check out your friendly neighborhood Victoria's Secret and give this bra a try. It's the worst feeling when you pull out your favorite dinner party outfit, only to find that you've put on a little weight -- and it shows. Fortunately, we guys don't have to suck it in all night. We can let our underwear do it for us -- with a man girdle!

But Wacoal Holdings, the company responsible for the stomach-shrinking undergarment, has recently released a product that's even more astounding. Called the "ex walker," the new underwear not only makes your mid-section appear more compact, but also shapes your thighs and hips in the process. How awesome is that?


Unfortunately the muscle-toning man girdle won't be available until 2010, and is being marketed as a "health product" (as opposed to "the lazy man's way to look like you bother working out," which is how I would've pitched it) -- so keep your eyes peeled in the fitness section of your local department store in a couple years.
