Versace launched their updated "revitalized" menswears collection exclusively at Barney's this past week. Donatella hosted the big night. Aside from playing in the Versace display window made of tinfoil, she also spent time mingling with all the random celebrities who showed up. I'm pretty sure the guest list was made up of basically any A-lister in New York at the time, regardless of (lack of) connections with the fashion world.Filed under: Runway Trends
Can it be? Have curvy bodies replaced the tiny frames currently dominating the runways and fashion editorials? Eh, not exactly. But Donatella Versace has enlisted two supermodel pros for her brand's fall ad campaign that are anything but waif-like child women.Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News
Next time you're at Costco picking up a 5 gallon bucket of potato salad, you might want to stroll over to the sunglasses department. Tom Ford's eyewear is joining the surprisingly long list of designer goods being sold at the low-priced megamart. Prada, Versace, Fendi, and now Tom Ford -- it's all there for Costco members. The Versace show was a big hit with the celebrities. Fergie, Megan Fox, and of course Patrick Dempsey were all there. Although, Patrick Dempsey had no choice. After all, he is the face of the brand right now.Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style
You're here at StyleDash, so I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you at least care about fashion. Well, it turns out you're a good person for caring. That's right. Not shallow, but good, and here's why:Continue reading Why have a red carpet? The country NEEDS it!

You know that annoying person who shows up late to a movie, or play, or whatever. Everyone else who managed to get there on time is seated, quiet, and ready to go -- but someone had to wander in five minutes late and hold everything up. Grr. What gives? How hard is it to show up before something starts? Sit down and shut up already, I'm trying to watch!Filed under: Style in the News
She's famous, she's successful, she's (sort of) attractive (in a "wow, you've sure had a lot of plastic surgery" kinda way).Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style
Grey's Anatomy fans rejoice! You're going to be seeing a lot more of Patrick Dempsey, the show's hunky leading man, over the next couple months. When he's not tantalizing the ladies as Dr. Derek Shepard, Dempsey will be the new face of Versace, featured in ads for the label's spring/summer '08 collection.
According to Versace, "Patrick represents everything that is great about this collection -- he has that confidence, he is completely comfortable in his own skin, which is so attractive. He is the modern man of today and of course looks fantastic in the clothes."
The only drawback? Versace will be using Dempsey's image to promote men's clothing. And while I'm sure most men would enjoy being the object of women's affections, I seriously doubt they'll buy clothing from a guy referred to as Dr. McDreamy by his lady admirers. Seems like Versace is targeting the girlfriend demographic with this one.

The latest development in the already major Spice Girls reunion tour: Donatella Versace has signed on to design the Girls' stage outfits. Apparently, Donatella has been a fan since the group's early days and was more than excited to submit her ideas upon the news of a comeback tour. The ladies will all have specially-designed, individual looks to follow their old Sporty, Posh, Ginger, Baby, and Scary personae, but not in the same blatantly gimmicky way as the old days'. For example, Sporty Spice won't have to strut around in a sports bra and Umbro trackpants anymore, but will dress in a more refined manner. It's probably better that the old looks do not return now that the ladies are older, but I'd be lying if I said I won't miss Ginger's legendary Union Jack mini-dress. The new outfits will be worth over a sweet $400,000.Filed under: Style in the News
If you are like me you probably haven't heard of Italian designer Marco Zanini, but you will be hearing a lot about him soon. Zanini, who was the head designer of womenswear, ready-to-wear and haute couture at Versace has been given the much coveted gig as the creative director at the new Halston. The label was bought by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who as we previously mentioned, put Jimmy Choo diva Tamara Mellon and infamous stylist Rachel Zoe on his creative advisory team. Zanini gushed to WWD that his new job is a dream come true. Zanini has to move from Milan to New York and will start work in September.Filed under: Style in the News, Kids and Babies
The fashion industry is obsessed with youth, which is why it's not uncommon to see girls as young as 14 modeling for Dior, YSL, and other major brands -- but it's not often that the industry uses underage boys.Filed under: Style in the News
It's hard to believe, but it has been nearly ten years since Gianni Versace was shot to death in front of his mansion, Casa Casuarina, in Miami. To celebrate his life, the city of Milan, where Versace had his studio, is putting on a series of events. French choreographer Maurice Bejart has written a two-part ballet titled, "Thank You, Gianni, With Love," to be performed at La Scala. There will also be an exhibit of Versace's sketches for theater costumes that will be on Milan streets and a scholarship in his name will be established at the European Institute of Design.Filed under: Fragrance
Donatella Versace will join the parade of fruity floral fragrances with the latest Versace fragrance titled just Versace (Versace has been making fragrances since the early 1980s but has never had one just named Versace, there is a Versace Woman and a Versace l'Homme but no plain Versace). The fragrance sounds to be very much in the current fashion with notes of black currant, wisteria, lilac, lotus, orchid, jasmine, musk, vetiver and cedar. The fragrance launches March 4 at Harrods and then will have a wider release in April.Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News
Designers participating in Milan's 2007/08 womens wear winter fashion shows are taking us back to familiar fashion territory: black. And gray. And black. Not that we didn't see this backlash coming. After the colorful excesses of 80s-inspired everything, and coupled with the already-in-progress return to grunge-inspired-everything, it's only natural we should see some darker colors on the runways.| # | Blogger | Posts | Cmts |
