Voom by Joy Han Fall 2007 at LA Fashion Week

voom by joy han fall 2007
We saw Voom by Joy Han yesterday with a bright turquoise cap-sleeve trench as a Dress of the Day, and the Fall 2007 collection, though a totally different look, still had that sort of fun, flirtatious feel. Models sported odd puffed out bowl-hair-cut styles which, embarassingly enough, my Mom forced on me when I was in elementary school.

However, the hair styles matched the retro-mod print on several of the dresses, as well as my favorite of the collection, an army green quilted puffer spacesuit dress. Of course, I would wear it without the blouse underneath. The dresses were feminine in shape (though somewhat shapeless), like the two shown on the left and right, and featured interesting designs printed on the fabric. The light, airy dresses paired with either black tights or thigh high boots? Awesome.

Dress of the Day: Voom Cap Sleeve Trench

voom cap sleeve trench coat on eva longoriaBecause Voom by Joy Han was one of the designers who showed yesterday at the Mercedes-Benz/IMG Fashion Week, we're looking at Voom for the Dress of the Day. Voom was started by Han and her husband Peter Kim in 2000 and has been called "Twisted Vintage."

The Cap Sleeve Trench is technically a coat, but it's made of 97% cotton with a little bit of Spandex, making it comfortable enough to wear alone as a dress. I mean really, with those itty bitty cap sleeves, would you wear this as outerwear? The dress comes in either bright aqua or red, has brass button detailing, and a tie belt at the waist. Eva Longoria wore it out and looked positively fantastic (though the picture doesn't flatter her at all).

The dress is available from Shop Intution for $215.
