Brad's "private" pics of Angelina breastfeeding appear on W cover

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

November's W magazine cover will feature a breastfeeding Angelina Jolie, just imagine what kind of revealing pics are inside. Actually, we heard that the article and images are pretty tame -- so don't get too worked up. The photos were apparently snapped by Brad in August, as the couple took a break from the paparazzi at their French chateau. Honestly, we think Brad takes a pretty good picture -- though it can't be hard with a subject like Angie showing some skin.

W magazine steams it up with Kate Moss in Istanbul

In the September issue of W magazine, Kate Moss keeps it sexy wearing expensive designer pieces, heavy eye makeup, and bright red lips in a traditional steam bathhouse in Istanbul.

Photographed by power fashion duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Alex Smith, the 11-page spread is by far one of our favorite fall edit this year. Well, the new issue of POP and Purple magazine has us swooning a little a bit, too.

Anyways, the editors over at W had the ingenoious idea to video document the epic spread with the British supermodel. Watch Kate pose. Watch Kate pout. Watch Kate get really, really sweaty.

Karl Lagerfeld designs most expensive teddy bear ever

Filed under: Style in the News

You too can own a limited edition Karl Lagerfeld teddy bear now -- for the measly price of just $1,500. Did you hear that people?!? We're talking about a stuffed animal for 4 figures. That's just wrong.

W magazine goes to Bourbon Street

Filed under: Style in the News

The April issue of W magazine features a 60 page photo essay on New Orleans shot by Bruce Weber.

Since the tragedy that was Hurricane Katrina, all of the news coming out of the Big Easy has been unfortunate and sad, to say the least -- totally eclipsing the colorful personalities and traditions that once occupied the city.

On wanting to shine a light back on the more positive aspects of New Orleans, W magazine's creative director Dennis Freedman told WWD: "Obviously, Katrina is and always will be a part of the history and future of New Orleans. The point of the story is to show people who haven't been spotlighted in the media in the past."

Since this is such an epic spread, the fashion magazine made ten videos to compliment the Bruce Weber-lensed "Come one down to Nawlins" story.

My favorite video is the one entitled "Petite Fleur" featuring supermodel Karen Elson gracefully lounging on antique furniture while she gets her photo taken.

If only life could be this calm and relaxing.

Shirley MacLaine as Coco Chanel

Filed under: Style in the News

Last year, Variety reported that Shirley MacLaine would be playing Coco Chanel in an upcoming biopic that would be airing on LifetimeTV this fall. The miniseries will chronicle Chanel's later years returning to Paris, after exiling herself in Germany and Switzerland during World War II.

Well, W magazine has obtained the first picture of Shirley MacLaine as Mademoiselle Coco Chanel. In the photo, Shirley has temporarily hidden her fire engine red locks under a brunette wig and wears the iconic pearls and tweed suit that Coco made fashionable in the 20s.

According to the fashion magazine, MacLaine took the role because of some advice an old friend once gave her -- the one and only Audrey Hepburn: "When we worked together, she said to me, 'You should think about doing Coco Chanel when you're older,'" recalls MacLaine. "That was in my 20s. I said, 'You should do Coco Chanel.' She said, 'No. You.' I've thought about it all that time, and then this came up. I couldn't believe it."

Meanwhile, the French actress Audrey Tautou is playing Coco in an upcoming Chanel feature-length film.

Tom and Katie to Pose Nude?

Picture them nakedAfter the Beckhams set the world abuzz with their sexy, seminude photo shoot in W magazine this month, rumor has it that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes might follow in their friends' footsteps.

A "friend" of the couple told an Australian gossip mag that the pair have already been planning some of the photos -- maybe naked in the shower together, or maybe posing nude aboard a flying saucer full of googly-eyed aliens (OK, OK, I made that last one up).

I'm not sure this is very likely -- especially considering that Tom Cruise has practically destroyed his wife's acting career by refusing to let her take any parts that might, maybe, kind of hint that her character is possibly sexual in any way.

However, if it is true, run, run for the hills! Because I don't know about you, but the thought of Tom Cruise naked makes my eyes bleed.

Is that really Gwyneth on the cover of W?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Um, maybe there is something to that story of Gwyneth Paltrow using snake venom on her face. What else can explain September's W magazine cover? The perpetually pale and WASPy looking faux-English lass now looks like she's been spending secret time in Donatella Versace's private beauty palace. The spray tan, the giant brush brows and the blindingly white hair render her virtually unrecognizable. I understand the urge to try something new with your look sometimes, but appearing on the cover of a fashion magazine looking like La Cicciolina seems like an odd career move. I haven't seen all the contestants yet, but this is in the running for the worst of the September covers.

Posh and Becks in W mag

Don't ever say I never did anything nice for you all. For the ladies, you can stare and drool a David Beckham, and fellas you may feast your eyes on fem-bot Victoria.

It's about time W magazine hit us up with a nice celebrity laden fashion photo spread. The last good one they had was last summer with the extra delicious Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gracing the cover. Of course I do remember Brad and Angie wearing clothes in their fashion magazine spread, which in hindsight wasn't ideal ... Victoria is pictured in an alien-like sultry piece of lingerie and a heavily tattooed David is in tighty whities (and guys, he is the only man who can pull off that sort of thing).

This W spread is all part of a "welcome to America" package we like to offer very beautiful people. Package includes flashbulbs going off like crazy every step they take, putting on a ridiculous Spice Girls reunion tour for Posh, and hoards of free clothes from the hottest L.A. boutiques (friendship with TomKat not included...that was their own mistake).

'Ugly Betty' goes pretty for W Magazine

'Ugly Betty' star America Ferrera gets to take off the fake brows and the fake braces she wears as Betty Suarez and get glammed up for the May issue of W magazine. The actress appears in a beautiful photo shoot shot by Michael Thompson and styled by Camilla Nickerson and is also the subject of an interview which is available online. The article unfortunately doesn't go into her fashion likes and dislikes but it does reveal that America is nearly as perky and upbeat as the character she plays on television. The story online also features some black and white photos of America and a video of the shoot.

Is Agyness Deyn the next big thing?

agyness deynIt's been a while since I've seen a really head-turning girl who aspires to the supermodel crown.

Gemma Ward, Natalia Vodianova and Daria Werbowy are beautiful, but it was a black and white spread in the January issue of W shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott that alerted me to a new talent. It features a stunning androgynous model named Agyness Deyn. Part Edie Sedgwick, part 1990s Linda Evangelista, the young model with the shock of cropped blonde hair and dark eyebrows above bright blue eyes is one to watch.

Check out her pics and let me know what you think, is this girl the next supermodel?

Portrait of the model as a mature woman

Remember that Diet Coke commercial with Cindy Crawford that came out a few years ago? If you do, you'll also remember how wonderful she looked in it -- all post-pregancy, out of the industry, I've gained some weight and started eating carbs again foxy? Cindy was as beautiful then as she was in 1993.

And she still looks amazing. But not all of the old supermodels have been treated quite so well by Father Time. This month, W Magazine has an editorial series featuring all of the old cover girls: Cheryl Tiegs, Pat Cleveland, Christy Turlington, and yes, Naomi Campbell. And some of them look good -- Shalom Harlow -- and some of them don't -- Rachel Hunter.

Personally, I love the idea of using old guard supermodels, but I have to say that I'm not a fan of Juergen Teller's strong lighting and white background. The harsh setting makes the photos look more like expensive mug shots than high-end editorial fashion photography. But who is asking me?
