Filed under: Handbags, Stores We Love, Accessories

As you've heard us say many times, we believe fashion should be fun. We want to wear things that make us smile; things that make us happy. Who wouldn't? And what's making us happy right now, you ask? Radley. Radley is making us positively giddy.

Makr Wallets: Simple, useful, artful

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Men

What is a wallet? Just some piece of fabric and Velcro overfilled with receipts and prophylactics? Sure, if it's 1987 and/or you're in high school.

The thing is, that wad of cash and debt in your pocket can be more, so much more. It can be useful and fashionable, no offense, Velcro.

Where, you may ask, would one acquire such a fine specimen of wallet? We thought you'd never ask. Take a gander at Makr.

DB Clay's eco-chic billfolds

For most dudes, a wallet isn't a high priority fashion item. It's something we sit on all day and most of the time there's nothing in there but a receipt and a credit card. Well, next time you bust out your wallet to pay for something -- since you're not going to impress anyone with your amazing bankroll -- why not at least distract them with your awesome taste and sense of environmentally responsibility?

DB Clay's wallets are made from an eco-friendly, 100% vegan material and are decorated with a non-toxic, high resolution printing process. This nearly indestructible material is called Tope -- it has a similar feel to leather or vinyl canvas, only it's completely non-toxic and biodegradable. The designs are what set these babies apart though, we really like Time to Swim. Oh yeah, did we mention that tope is water-resistant? Carrying a wet wallet around sucks.

A new way to wallet from dbClay

db Clay wallets
I have never been jealous of a man's wallet. Why would I? They are boring, shapeless and plain. However, today I am singing a different tune after getting my hot little hands on a wallet by db clay.

Db clay designs gorgeous wallets that are unique and eco-friendly. The db clay wallet I am swooning over is the Broadway wallet that has an awesome mannequin head pattern on it. I would even dare to say that this wallet is perfect for me; except for one thing ... it's a man's billfold.

When there is a fashion problem, I have a fashionable solution. A man's wallet is actually quite perfect for a woman (especially since the holidays are coming up) because the thin design fits perfecting inside an evening clutch. Just make sure you don't pack it full like you would your everyday wallet; a few $20 dollar bills, your ID and credit card is all you need.

Don't mess with Jack

Jack Spade Don't Steal my walletJack Spade was sick to death of people stealing his stuff. Since moving into his Soho boutique nearly a decade ago the following 'disappearances' had occurred.
  • A two hundred pound ping pong table with no legs.
  • A park bench which sat outside the boutique.
  • A small enamel store sign
  • A library cart filled with books, which can be borrowed for free.

Sheesh, that's a lot of random stolen goods (who steals books?). To commemorate this long history of being ripped off and stolen from, Jack Spade felt compelled to design a response to all of this theft. He designed a simple twill wallet with " Don't steal my &^%##^@ wallet" embroidered across it. Simple yet effective, no? For being a simple twill wallet Jack is pretty much stealing from all of us by charging $115 for it. I guess a cheap laugh can cost big bucks. Let's just hope Jack Spade earns enough money from the sales to replace that legless ping pong table.

The minimalist Jimi Wallet

They call them "the wallet for people who hate wallets." The Jimi wallet is small, made from a plastic product similar to bulletproof glass, and fits in a front pocket. (If you want to see how they work, check out the demo.) They were just introduced last fall, and now Jimi has created the new JimiX wallet, which has a money clip on the outside of the wallet instead of the inside, making room for more cash. I'm still a fan of the original Jimi, which keeps everything inside the water-resistant case.

Right now if you buy four Jimi wallets you get one free, and they're under 20 bucks each. And they're not just for guys -- the original Jimi now comes in pink, too! I'm thinking: easy Christmas gifts for the hard to buy for people on my list.

Marc Jacobs wants to give you a wallet

marc jacobs jacketThe latest spend-a-lot-get-a-little-extra-bonus offer comes courtesy of eLuxury. Spend $350 or more on Marc by Marc Jacobs and get a Beth Bow wallet (worth $128) with purchase. They've got a bunch of Marc stuff available including a pair of grey flannel shorts (a fashion trend I will never understand) but my favorite is this wool jacket. It's just a bit trendy with the flaring cut and the military-look double-breasted style but still classic enough to go a few seasons. It has rounded collar and deep pockets and at $548 you are easily in free wallet territory. The offer expires at the end of the month.
